Stenungsund Municipality is an expanding coastal municipality with approximately 27,800 inhabitants, a strong business community, residential environments close to the sea, and good communication opportunities. The municipality has a well-developed cultural and association life as well as good conditions for outdoor activities and recreation. Wholeness, openness, participation, and transparency are the municipality's guiding principles.

The municipality's vision is to become 35,000 inhabitants by 2035. Stenungsund Municipality is part of the Gothenburg Region's municipal association, which is a forum for cooperation and exchange of experiences, as well as several other inter-municipal collaborations.

The municipality is organized into an administration with four sectors. The Community Building Sector plays a central role in creating an attractive and sustainable municipality where people enjoy living and working. We work to develop the municipality in various areas such as planning and construction, environmental and health protection, land and development, water and sewage, waste, streets, and traffic.

The Building Environment operation is responsible for supervision, assessment, as well as information and advice within environmental and health protection, food control, building permits, and housing adaptation grants. The operation is divided into two units, along with a lawyer and an administration group that reports directly to the operations manager. Currently, over 30 people work in the operation. The building permit unit is responsible for all permit assessments and supervision according to the planning and building act and currently consists of 8 employees.

Job Responsibilities

We strive for clear, responsive, and inspiring leadership, where you as a manager lead with trust and provide conditions for active employee participation. As a unit manager, you lead and follow up on the work in the unit while managing and further developing processes and working methods with a holistic perspective. You have budget responsibility as well as personnel and work environment responsibility for the unit's 8 employees.

As a manager and leader, you create conditions for the unit to perform its work professionally, where legal security and good treatment are in focus. You provide support and guidance in case management and work for a good working climate by utilizing, encouraging, and developing employees' abilities and engagement. You are part of the management group of the operation and share responsibility for the development of the operation and for collaboration both within the operation and with other operations in the municipality. You attend meetings of the Technical Authority Committee where you both present cases and support case handlers in their presentations. We plan to conduct interviews on April 2-3, 2025.

Qualifications

You have previously worked as a manager and have a trust-based, close, and clear leadership characterized by responsiveness, flexibility, and the ability to see and work for the whole. Since collaboration and understanding of the whole are important, we see that you have the interest and ability to maintain and develop good relationships with other sectors as well as internal and external partners.

You have a university degree in a relevant field for the position or other educational background and experience that we consider equivalent. You have knowledge and understanding of authority exercise within the unit's area of responsibility and experience working in a politically governed organization. You possess good communication skills, are methodical and systematic, and have good knowledge of work environment work and work environment legislation. You have an interest in group development and want to lead the operation in close collaboration with manager colleagues and the management group. A driving license for manual vehicles is a requirement. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
