Coordinator for Chemical and Environmental Safety
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to us
The Education Administration is a large department with a budget of 21 billion SEK and approximately 170 primary and secondary school units.

Our mission includes coordinating and developing the Education Administration's planning, support, and follow-up of areas concerning, among other things, financial management, safety, procurement, and school meals. The Planning Unit consists of a unit manager and 20 employees.
We are now looking for you to become our new coordinator for chemical and environmental safety at the central Education Administration.
We offer
A meaningful job where you contribute to a safer environment in the city's schools. Our work culture is characterized by engagement, humility, and high competence. Your role
Your role involves providing support and advice regarding safe chemistry education in schools. As the coordinator for chemical and environmental issues, you also have an overarching responsibility to ensure that the Education Administration complies with certain assignments established in chemical and environmental action plans. This includes coordinating and following up on schools' work with assignments from environmental, chemical, and plastic use plans, such as substitution of chemicals and use of consumables.
As the department's expert in chemicals and environmental issues, you will be involved in procurements where environmental requirements are important or in responding to consultations within your area of expertise. You will also support construction projects related to specialized classrooms as needed.
Your main contacts with schools are primarily chemistry supervisors, as well as principals and administrative managers, but also with managers and employees in the central administration.
You keep yourself informed about current occupational health and safety legislation regarding chemical risks, coordinate and drive issues such as the management of chemical waste, sustainability in scientific education, and the goals in governing documents regarding environmental and sustainability.
Your responsibilities include, for example:
- coordinating and driving the Education Administration's assignments regarding chemicals and the environment
- being a support for school chemistry supervisors and management in answering general questions regarding chemical safety within the various activities of the school
- training new users and providing support in the Chemsoft system, which is the city's system for listing all chemical products and chemicals used in the schools' activities
- being an expert in environmental and sustainability issues and coordinating areas within the environment and sustainability.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- a university degree, preferably with a teaching qualification, in chemistry and/or environmental science.
- experience in conducting training on various issues related to environmental or chemical safety
- practical knowledge of various chemicals and how to handle them safely
- experience in leading and driving projects or processes.
It is advantageous if you:
- are familiar with occupational health and safety legislation and the regulations that apply to chemical risks and provisions regarding safety equipment, handling, and storage.
- have knowledge of the school's curricula and teaching in the natural sciences.
We are looking for someone who is self-driven and takes responsibility for, structures, and drives their tasks. Since the position involves many points of contact, it is important that you are service-oriented, which means that you are positive, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions. You contribute to good collaboration by having an open and problem-solving approach. You invite dialogue, listen actively, and adapt communication based on the current situation. Finally, it is important that you see the bigger picture and consider the broader perspective. You understand your role, your mission, and at the same time, ensure the best interests of the entire organization in your actions and decisions.
We will place great emphasis on personal qualities, motivation, and commitment to the position.
Warm welcome with your application!
