The Swedish Energy Agency's mission is to unite ecological sustainability, competitiveness, and security of supply in energy systems that are sustainable and cost-effective with a low impact on health, environment, and climate. We are in an expansive phase with new exciting and extensive assignments from the government.

Your Responsibilities — Supporting Research and Innovation

You will be part of the management team for the department of research, innovation, and business development, where you will work with a holistic perspective to achieve the unit's, department's, and agency's goals and contribute to its overall work and development.

The unit's main mission is to support research and innovation to promote a sustainable energy system with a focus on electrification and a sustainable electricity system. The unit is also responsible for research and innovation efforts in the area of sustainable cities. The efforts should contribute to achieving the energy and climate policy goals. As a leader and manager in the unit, you will plan, lead, and follow up on daily operations where you have personnel, results, and budget responsibility. In this role, you will work both strategically and operationally in the governance and management of the operations and deliver on set goals and values through good communication. With a coaching approach, you will develop the organization, teams, and employees with both ideas and methods. The work may involve travel both nationally and internationally.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in a field we consider relevant for an organization that manages funding for research and innovation in the energy and climate area. Furthermore, you have experience working as a manager with personnel, results, and budget responsibility as well as in a management team. You also have good experience in developing and leading employees in teams.

You need to communicate well in both spoken and written Swedish and English and have good knowledge of modern IT systems and programs.

It is an advantage if you have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Research, innovation, and business development in electricity networks, fossil-free electricity production, electricity usage, and sustainable cities
  • Policy development in electricity systems, electrification, and sustainable cities
  • Collaboration with other societal actors and interest organizations, nationally and/or internationally
  • Experience in organizational development with a focus on learning and flexible working methods in complex contexts
  • Government work and state aid related to research and innovation

About Us

An important and central task for the department of research, innovation, and business development is to strategically prioritize and finance research, innovation, and commercialization of innovative solutions to accelerate society's energy and climate transition. We are also responsible for several national and international assignments that involve contacts and collaboration with key societal actors.

The unit primarily works to support research and innovation to promote a sustainable energy system with a focus on electricity systems and sustainable cities. When we work with electricity systems, we focus on electricity networks, fossil-free electricity production, and electricity usage. Through a variety of efforts, the unit contributes to supporting the building of knowledge and competence among various societal actors and works to ensure that research, development, and innovation efforts are introduced into society. The unit collaborates with a wide range of different societal actors both nationally and internationally. Currently, the unit has 14 employees with a broad competence across various academic disciplines and backgrounds from business, public sector, and academia.

The position is a permanent employment with an initial six-month probationary period. Positions within the Swedish Energy Agency may be placed in a security class, which means security clearance and background checks according to the provisions of the Security Protection Act.
