Opinion Poll from Ipsos: Social Democrats Decline, Moderates and Sweden Democrats Increase
The latest opinion poll from Ipsos, published on May 26, 2025, indicates significant changes in the political landscape of Sweden. The Social Democrats have lost ground, while both the Moderates and the Sweden Democrats have strengthened their positions.
Fresh Figures from Ipsos
According to the latest Ipsos measurement, the Social Democrats have dropped to 33.00 percent, a decrease from 37.00 percent in the previous Ipsos survey from April 24, 2025. At the same time, both the Moderates and the Sweden Democrats have increased to 20.00 percent, which is an increase from the earlier 19.00 percent.
The Left Party has also seen a decrease, from 9.00 percent to 8.00 percent, while the Green Party has dropped from 6.00 percent to 5.00 percent. The Center Party remains steady at 5.00 percent, while the Liberals see a slight rise from 2.00 percent to 3.00 percent. The Christian Democrats remain at 3.00 percent.
Comparison with Previous Surveys
This trend of changes has been clear in several previous surveys. For example, a survey from Kantar-Sifo on May 8, 2025, showed that the Social Democrats were at 35.60 percent, which was also a decline compared to earlier measurements.
The increase for the Moderates and the Sweden Democrats is particularly interesting in light of previous surveys. According to Indicator's measurement on May 5, 2025, the Moderates were at 21.10 percent, which was a slightly higher figure than the current one from Ipsos, but still shows stability in their upward trend.
Historical Trends
Looking back at data from December 2024, we can see that the Social Democrats were already at 31.00 percent in Ipsos' survey, indicating some recovery until April 2025, but now a decline again. The Left Party has previously had more stable figures around 8.00 to 9.00 percent, but now they also seem to be losing some ground.
The constant presence of the Sweden Democrats around 19.00 to 20.00 percent has been a constant in most surveys over the past year, indicating their consistently strong position among voters.
What Does This Mean for the Future?
This change in the opinion landscape could have significant consequences for the political climate in Sweden. The decline of the Social Democrats could put pressure on the party to reevaluate their strategies for upcoming elections. At the same time, the increased support for the Moderates and the Sweden Democrats could lead to new alliances and changes in the political dynamics.
It remains to be seen how these trends will develop over the coming months, but one thing is certain: the political landscape in Sweden is constantly changing.
