New Demoskop Survey: Moderates Gain Momentum While Liberals Decline
The latest opinion poll from Demoskop, released on April 24, 2025, shows a continued dynamic political landscape in Sweden. While some parties see a steady increase in voter support, others struggle to maintain their positions.
Strong Increase for the Moderates
In the latest survey, the Moderates have managed to significantly strengthen their support to 20.30%, up from 18.80% in the previous Demoskop report. This is the highest rating for the party in Demoskop's measurements since December 2024, where they were at 19.20%. This increase can be seen as part of a general trend where the Moderates have seen an upward curve in several polls, including Ipsos and Novus, where they have also been around 19-20%.
Stability of the Social Democrats
The Social Democrats continue to be the dominant party with 33.60% of the support, despite a slight decrease from previously 33.90%. Despite this marginal decline, they remain stable and are the largest party in all major opinion polls during April.
Positive Signs from the Green Party and the Center Party
The Green Party has increased slightly to 6.60% from 6.30%, indicating a continued recovery compared to previous months. The Center Party has also seen an increase to 4.80% from 4.20%, which may indicate a recovery from the decline they experienced earlier in the year.
Liberals and Christian Democrats Under Pressure
The Liberals are experiencing a decline and now have 2.40% of the support, a decrease from 2.70%. This continues the downward trend seen in other measurements. The Christian Democrats have also decreased to 3.90% from 4.60%, which may suggest they are struggling to reach out to broader voter groups at the moment.
Sweden Democrats and the Left Party
The Sweden Democrats have seen a decrease to 18.30% from previously 19.70%, which may reflect a more competitive political environment. However, the Left Party has increased slightly to 7.60% from 7.50%, showing a stabilization of their voter support compared to previous measurements.
Historical Perspectives
A look at the historical data shows that the Moderates have had a steady increase since December 2024, while the Social Democrats have maintained a stable line over time. The Green Party has managed to recover somewhat from earlier lower levels, and the Center Party shows signs of regaining lost support. Meanwhile, the Liberals and Christian Democrats struggle to grow in an increasingly competitive political environment.
This latest report from Demoskop provides us with an interesting insight into how the political landscape in Sweden continues to change and how the parties position themselves ahead of future elections.
