Electricity Prices in Sweden: Today's and Tomorrow's Forecasts

Electricity prices in Sweden vary significantly throughout the day, and today, December 19, 2024, is no exception. During the early morning hours, between 00:00 and 05:00, prices are as low as a few cents per kWh, with the lowest price at 04:00-04:59 being only 0.81 cents. However, prices rise sharply during the morning rush hours, peaking at 26.28 cents at 09:00-09:59.

Today's Electricity Prices: Variations and Opportunities

During the cheapest hour today, between 04:00 and 04:59, it's an excellent time to make use of electricity for various activities. It costs almost nothing to, for example, play games on the computer, take a shower, bath, or charge your car. A shower costs only 3 cents, while a bath costs 4 cents. If you plan to charge your electric car, it only costs 48 cents for 60 kWh.

However, during the most expensive hour, between 09:00 and 09:59, it's a different story. Here, a bath costs 157 cents, charging an electric car costs a whopping 16 kronor. Running the dishwasher costs 39 cents for one cycle, and playing games costs 13 cents.

Tomorrow's Electricity Prices: A Different Picture

Tomorrow, December 20, 2024, electricity prices are expected to be slightly lower on average. Prices start at 18.27 cents at midnight and decrease to 11.12 cents at 03:00-03:59. They then gradually rise throughout the day, peaking at 25.20 cents at 15:00-15:59.

This means that tomorrow also offers good opportunities to plan energy-intensive activities during the cheaper hours. Taking a shower or bath during the early morning hours can save a lot on the electricity bill.

Interesting Facts about Electricity Prices and Consumption

Did you know that if we had the lowest electricity price all year round, it would only cost 145 kronor to heat a medium-sized house of 160 square meters? This is based on an annual consumption of 18,000 kWh. During the most expensive hour today, the same heating would cost a whopping 4731 kronor.

The Role of Electricity Companies and Price Impact

Electricity prices are influenced by many factors, including weather conditions, demand, and production. Electricity companies constantly work to balance these factors to ensure a stable and fair pricing for consumers. During the winter months, prices can often rise due to increased demand for heating, but there are always opportunities to save through smart planning and conscious consumption.

To keep electricity bills down, it can be wise to monitor the variations in electricity prices and adjust usage accordingly. Charging the electric car or running the dishwasher during the cheaper hours can make a significant difference in the end.
