Resident Physician in Gynecology and Obstetrics – Gävle

Women's healthcare in Gävleborg County is divided between two locations, Gävle and Hudiksvall. The maternity unit in Gävle performs approximately 1,500–2,000 deliveries per year, along with outpatient obstetric services including ultrasound. Gynecology is primarily outpatient-based, offering services such as abortion clinics, urogynecology, fertility treatments, general gynecology, and gynecological oncology. Surgical activities take place in central surgery, day surgery, and clinic-based surgery. The maternity/gynecology ward has 18 beds. There are 38 physicians working in women's healthcare in Gävle, ten of whom are residents (ST-läkare). We actively work to train our own specialists and maintain a steady flow of newly qualified specialists.

Job Description

As a resident physician with us, you will work both in the gynecological clinic and on the inpatient ward. You will become part of a secure and dedicated team where support and the opportunity to consult with experienced colleagues are always available.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Managing patient admissions and discharges.
• Participating in ward rounds and medical assessments.
• Performing somatic examinations.
• Documenting and participating in consultations.
• Conducting medication reviews.
• Working in the gynecological clinic with examinations, ultrasounds, and assessments, supported by on-call services.
• Participating in weekend day shifts as needed.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in obstetrics and gynecology, who is responsible, flexible, communicative, and enjoys collaborating with others.

As a resident physician, you must have:

• Swedish medical license, which we ask you to attach to your application.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale.

Experience working in Swedish healthcare, particularly in obstetrics and gynecology, is meritorious. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities.
