Description

As a fiber technician within the Business Area Urban Networks at Karlstads Energi, you will become part of an engaged and competent team of approximately 20 employees. The team consists of experienced colleagues in both active and passive networks, skilled fiber technicians, and technical specialists focusing on future solutions. Despite different roles and areas of responsibility, the work is characterized by a strong team spirit and close collaboration to ensure efficient and professional operations.

You will also become part of MittNät, a collaboration between Karlstads Energi and ten municipal urban networks. Within MittNät, we work together to deliver high-quality and reliable fiber services to our customers. The cooperation between the urban networks gives us the opportunity to utilize shared resources and competencies, which strengthens our development capacity and quality of delivery.

We are facing several exciting development steps in the coming years and are now looking for you who want to contribute to varied and developmental work. Responsibilities

As a fiber technician, you work broadly across all parts of the fiber network. The tasks include installation, repair, and maintenance of fiber infrastructure, including splicing, blowing, and laying of fiber cables and ducting.

The work also involves handling active equipment, such as replacing customer equipment and switches. The role requires technical competence and the ability to work in a structured and efficient manner.

You plan and drive your tasks forward independently, while collaborating closely with colleagues in the operations team for daily commissioning and troubleshooting. The position involves great variation and personal responsibility, where flexibility and problem-solving skills are central traits.

On-call duty may be included in the role.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have relevant technical education, for example as a certified fiber technician, cable technician, or with robust fiber certification, or other education deemed equivalent. You preferably have a few years of experience working within fiber network operations.

As a person, you are responsible, engaged, and proactive. You have good collaboration skills and communicate smoothly with both colleagues and external contacts. Furthermore, you are flexible and service-oriented, with a focus on delivering high quality in customer assignments.

Advantageous is electrical education at the upper secondary level or equivalent, for example vocational upper secondary (KY) or higher vocational education (YH) for distribution electrician or other equivalent education. It is also advantageous if you have completed the courses Work on the Road, Hot Work, and ESA. Good computer skills are important in the work, as several work tasks are digitized.

A Category B driver's license is required for the position.

As an employee, you will be part of Karlstads Energi's crisis and war organization. Upon new employment, mandatory alcohol and drug testing is conducted, and valid identification must be presented at the interview. Probationary employment may be applied.
