Violin and String Teacher for the Culture School in Östhammar

Approximately 1,800 people commute to the workplace of Östhammar Municipality every day to deliver welfare and development so that our local community can continue to be safe and attractive. We do this together, with engagement, responsibility, and openness. We are proud of that.

The Culture School consists of a cheerful team with extensive experience working in a culture school. The school is characterized by its mission to give children and young people the opportunity to practically engage in creative and artistic subjects. Within the school, you will find everything from singing and musical instruments to theater, dance, photo/film, and art and design. The school also conducts annual initiatives funded by the Swedish Arts Council, where new art forms are tested. The school is characterized by a decentralized working method where all localities have access to the basic offering of singing and musical instruments, while other art forms are spread throughout the municipality. For example, dance in Alunda, art and design in Gimo, etc.

Individual instruction takes place largely during school hours, while group activities and ensembles take place after school hours. The school has an important mission to enable influence and active participation for the students. Students are made visible primarily through final concerts and performances, but also through other types of venues such as film screenings, vernissages, Open Stage, and participation in local arrangements in the municipality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities will include among other things:

• Teaching. As a violin and string teacher, you teach both individually and in groups. You will have students ranging from beginners to older students who need greater challenges.
• Classroom visits to introduce instruments, find new students, and build relationships.
• School tours to showcase instruments and play. Participate in various cross-pedagogical projects with other teachers and art forms at the school.
• Administration of student bookings.
• Student concerts of various kinds, usually at the end of the term but also when opportunities and needs arise.

Östhammar Culture School teaches in five localities, and every day is a new day with new students. We teach individually during school hours and in groups after or in connection with school hours.

The current string teacher will take on the role of coordinator and will remain available as a mentor and sounding board.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who have a university-level education in music and culture pedagogy, a driver's license, and basic IT skills.

It is meritorious if you also have experience teaching children, both individually and in groups, and have worked in the booking system StudyAlong or similar administration.

As a person, you adapt easily to new conditions and requirements. You are engaged and relationship-building, which we value both in contact with students, guardians, and other colleagues. In addition, you have good structure in your work and feel a responsibility to deliver the best possible teaching so that the student can achieve set goals.
