Do you want to work with reactor safety for new and existing nuclear power plants and contribute to developing the Authority's knowledge and ability to handle current safety issues?

We are looking for engaged investigators within Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems for the Systems Technology unit within the Standardization and Knowledge Development division. Together with other specialists, you will be responsible for knowledge development and the Authority's direction and stance in the field of systems technology. The workplace is located in Solna, Katrineholm, or Gothenburg.

About the role

We offer you a position where you will investigate technical issues regarding new and existing nuclear power, follow developments in systems technology and plant safety both nationally and internationally. You will have the opportunity to initiate and follow up on research projects and authority-supporting projects, as well as contribute to developing design requirements for I&C for new nuclear power.

Since the Systems Technology unit actively supports the Authority in its entire mission and thus other divisions, it may become relevant to participate as a competence support in your subject area regarding inspections together with Supervision. Similarly, you may come to serve as a support in your subject area in a licensing process.

The unit is responsible for knowledge development and the Authority's direction in the field of systems technology, including probabilistic safety analysis (PSA) and analyses of external and internal events. The unit is also responsible for international work within its area of responsibility. The unit is part of the Standardization and Knowledge Development division, which in turn is responsible for driving the Authority's policy, regulation, and knowledge development, primarily within the areas of nuclear power, radiation protection, and management and final disposal of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste.

You will develop in a knowledge-intensive environment in collaboration with engaged colleagues with deep competence in various subject areas, and you will be given good opportunities to influence the direction of the work. We have a large international network and collaborate within, among others, IAEA and OECD/NEA.

About you

We are looking for you who have:

• a Master of Science in Engineering degree or other education that the Authority deems relevant for the position
• experience in the design or maintenance of programmable and relay-based instrumentation and control systems within operations with high safety requirements
• experience with design prerequisites in nuclear power plants such as redundancy, diversity, and physical and functional separation
• experience in investigative or review work
• experience in documenting and communicating results
• good ability to communicate orally and in writing in Swedish and English.

It is meritorious if you have knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

• knowledge of qualification, including environmental qualification of electrical components
• IT security for process-near control systems
• application of standards for instrumentation and control systems
• nuclear power plant basic safety functions
• HFE (human factors engineering).

To function well in the role of investigator, you need to have the ability to see things from a holistic perspective. Since you will have both internal and external contacts, you need to have good collaboration skills. To succeed in the role, you need to be self-reliant and able to take responsibility for driving the work forward, as well as being able to draw relevant conclusions from available information. Furthermore, you need to have a good ability to document and communicate the results of completed work in a clear and pedagogical manner. Finally, you need to have high integrity.

About the employment

The employment is permanent with a start date according to agreement. The employment may begin with a probationary period of six months. You will be employed as an investigator. Since we strongly believe in collaboration between colleagues, we want you to work from the office for the majority of your working time, but you also have the opportunity to work from home part of the time. Business travel occurs.

An employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security clearance with register check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment. For some of our security-classed tasks, Swedish citizenship is required.
