Welfare Sector

The Welfare Sector covers several different areas in Gävle Municipality, such as care units, adult education, social services, the employment unit, and the day activity unit. We work to provide the municipality's residents with a good quality of life. Within the premises and property area, the internal service and local support unit is included, where all the sector's caretakers are organized.

Job Responsibilities

Do you want to help create a well-functioning and pleasant environment for our operations? We are now looking for a service-oriented and engaged caretaker who thrives in a varied job where no two days are alike. In your role as a caretaker, you will be the important link between the property owners and the properties we rent. You handle fault reports and work orders through established contacts and collaborate closely with your colleagues within the sector's caretaker group.

Your main tasks will include:

• Maintenance and upkeep of the interior and exterior areas of the properties, minor repairs, and maintenance work.
• Waste management and recycling in our common areas.
• Monitor and report security-related incidents, participating in and being responsible for reviewing any observations after security rounds and fire safety rounds.
• The position involves some heavy lifting, such as moving furniture in our buildings and residential units. Therefore, you need to have good physical fitness.
• Other tasks of a caretaker nature.

Qualifications

As a caretaker, you have a varied and eventful workday where you need to be able to prioritize and act efficiently, even in situations with high tempo and many people in motion. You enjoy taking personal responsibility and work equally well independently and together with colleagues to create a well-functioning operation.

We are looking for someone who has:

• At least a high school education, preferably with a practical focus such as construction, electrical, or technical studies, or education in property maintenance. If you do not have a practical focus in your high school education, you may also have several years of working life experience that the employer considers equivalent.
• Experience in caretaking or property maintenance.
• Technical knowledge and good IT skills. You work comfortably in Microsoft 365 and have good knowledge of Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Word.
• Good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Category B driver's license for manual transmission vehicles.

To succeed in the role, you have:

• The ability to create and maintain good relationships, both internally and externally. You collaborate well with people in different contexts and functions.
• An unpretentious approach in your collaboration with colleagues, citizens, and stakeholders.
• The ability to find solutions to emerging problems.
• The ability to express yourself clearly and concretely. You adapt your language in both speech and writing based on the recipient.
• The ability to adapt to different situations and change your perspective and approach. You see opportunities in changes.

To work as a caretaker within the Welfare Sector, you, as the final candidate, need to provide extracts from the criminal record and suspicion register for work with the elderly or adults with disabilities.

Employment Form and Terms

Employment Form: Permanent position.
Duration: Permanent, start date: 2026-10-01 or as agreed.
