Looking for a Meaningful Part-Time Job as a Swimming Coach?
UPSALA SIMSÄLLSKAPUppsala län, Uppsala
Previous experience is desired
Are you looking for a meaningful part-time job?
Do you have a passion for sports, leadership, and child development? We are now recruiting assistant and head coaches for our swimming school, technique school, as well as our training and competition groups, starting in August or early September 2026.
With us, you will get a flexible part-time job where you can develop your leadership skills, gain valuable work experience, and make a real difference for children and young people – all while becoming part of the world's oldest swimming club.
About Upsala Simsällskap
Founded in 1796, Upsala Simsällskap is the world's oldest swimming club. Every week, we welcome hundreds of children and young people in our activities, working to help more become swim-literate and discover the joy of swimming. Safety, quality, community, and development are at the heart of what we do.
Why choose us?
As a coach with us, you get more than just a part-time job. You become an important role model for children and young people, develop your leadership skills, and join a dedicated community where we support and inspire each other. Whether you want to build experience for future studies and career or continue developing within the sport, you will gain valuable experiences that will benefit you far beyond the pool.
The Role of the Coach
We are recruiting both assistant and head coaches for:
- Swimming School (ages 4–15)
- Technique School
- Swimming Training Groups
- Swimming Competition Groups
You lead or assist groups based on your experience and education. Together with other coaches, you create a safe, inspiring, and educational environment where children and young people develop their swimming skills according to their own prerequisites.
The work is primarily carried out at Uppsala Simarena, but also at Fyrishov, and includes afternoons, evenings, and some weekends. We plan a schedule together that works for both the operations and your studies or regular job.
What We Offer
With us, you get a fun, flexible, and developmental part-time job where you have the opportunity to make a difference for children and young people every week. You become part of a dedicated team of coaches and trainers and are offered education, support, and great opportunities to develop in your coaching role. The work provides valuable experience in leadership, pedagogy, and collaboration – merits that are appreciated regardless of which career path you choose in the future.
Sports compensation is paid at 70–130 SEK per hour, depending on responsibility, experience, and completed coaching courses.
About the Assignment
The assignment covers one term at a time. The autumn term starts in mid-August or early September and runs until mid-December for most groups. Competition activities follow the competition calendar, and the spring term starts in January.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for you who want to develop both people and yourself. You are responsible, positive, and enjoy working with children and young people. You do not need to have been a competitive swimmer or have previous coaching experience – the most important thing is that you are engaged and eager to learn.
To thrive in the role, we believe you:
- are swim-literate and comfortable in and around water; the requirement for swimming ability increases depending on the activity
- are responsible and positive
- have good collaboration and communication skills
- have basic knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
Experience in swimming, leadership, or working with children and young people is meritorious but not a requirement. We provide you with the introduction and training you need to feel confident in the role.
