Environmental Engineer for the Project Unit, Technical Division

The Technical Division operates its own business and consists of five operational areas: Roads/Parks/Harbor, Nyköping Water, Waste Management, Municipal Properties, and Meal Service. These are supported by a project unit, an economic unit, and an administrative staff. Approximately 400 employees work in the division, which has an annual turnover of over 1 billion SEK. Our clients are the Municipal Executive Board, the Environment and Urban Planning Committee, and the Culture and Leisure Committee.

The Project Unit within the Technical Division is responsible for driving Nyköping Municipality's larger investment projects.

Job Responsibilities

We are facing several exciting investment projects and now want to strengthen our team at the Project Unit with an Environmental Engineer.

As an Environmental Engineer, you will have a supporting role, primarily assisting project managers with environmental issues related to our construction and infrastructure projects in their various stages. We see you supporting and contributing knowledge in our projects regarding, among other things, contaminated land areas, permit issues, environmental competence during the design phase, circular construction, and reuse. You will also assist other operations within the Technical Division when needed. Contact with authorities, grant applications, and environmental monitoring are other important tasks included in the role.

You will be located at the Project Unit and be an important part of the network with other environmental engineers within the Technical Division.

Qualifications

• You have a university degree with a focus on environmental science or natural sciences, or another focus considered equivalent.
• You have experience working with environmental issues.
• You have a valid B-driver's license.
• You have good verbal and written communication skills, as well as good computer and system proficiency.

Experience from permit issues, work with contaminated land areas including sampling and principal responsibility is meritorious.

It is important that you are resilient and work well with other people. You listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner.
