to apply for the job
Water is our most vital food source, and Gotland's water supply is one of our most pressing issues. As an Environmental Coordinator with us, you will play a key role in this work, as the position primarily focuses on Water and Wastewater (VA) – everything from water intakes to distribution networks and treatment plants.
The entire department consists of approximately 130 dedicated colleagues. The department also includes waste operations, which is currently facing exciting challenges in collection and recycling to reduce Region Gotland's climate footprint. You will belong to the Administration and Development unit – a broad and competent group of 14 employees who serve as a shared resource within the VA and Waste department.
Here, you will find a qualified and varied job that directly contributes to the Gotlandic society. We value a good work environment with significant personal responsibility and flexible working methods for a sustainable work-life balance.
Your Responsibilities
In the role of Environmental Coordinator, you have a central and driving function. You are responsible for ensuring that our units meet their environmental requirements according to the Environmental Code (MB), which includes conducting risk assessments for our wastewater and water treatment plants, as well as managing self-control programs, permit applications, and EU reporting.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Driving internal development work within environment and climate, and ensuring that relevant procedures are established and followed up.
- Carrying out activities related to Region Gotland's scorecard for environment and climate, and annually reporting environmental work to the management group.
- Participating in supervision visits, responding to supervision reports, and being active in the Revaq group.
- Interpreting laboratory analyses regarding mass handling and driving related permit examinations.
- Collecting and reporting statistics to Svenskt Vatten's database (VASS), calculating carbon dioxide emissions, and participating in relevant networks.
- Sharing environmental news on our intranet (Insidan).
The position involves travel within the region, so a B-driving license is required.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who have a relevant higher education or university degree (e.g., in environmental science, chemistry, biology, or civil engineering with an environmental focus). You have at least 5 years of relevant experience in qualified environmental work.
A B-driving license is a requirement for the position.
To succeed and thrive in this role, we see that you have strong self-drive, are structured, and are comfortable planning your work independently. Since you will collaborate with many different functions and also act as a speaker in various forums, it is important that you are a skilled communicator both verbally and in writing.
