Do you want to help shape the future of care for children and young people? As a specialist physician in child and adolescent psychiatry at our clinic in Farsta, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young patients while developing professionally.

BUP Farsta is an outpatient clinic in Farsta for children and adolescents aged 7–17. The team consists of psychologists, counselors, physicians, nurses, and administrators with specialized competence in child and adolescent psychiatry. We work interprofessionally, in close collaboration with guardians and, when necessary, with schools, social services, and other healthcare partners. Our work is guided by BUP Stockholm’s process maps, which support assessment, investigation, and treatment.

BUP Farsta provides core services within specialized child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient care and offers Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for eating disorders as a subspecialized intervention. Experience in eating disorder care, family-based work, parent-focused interventions, and group-based support is therefore particularly relevant for this position.

Job Description

As a specialist physician, you play a central role in contributing medical expertise to daily child psychiatric work. You are responsible for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, including medical interventions and neuropsychiatric investigations. The role involves actively contributing to the development and improvement of the clinic’s routines and working methods, with the goal of ensuring high-quality, patient-safe care.

Qualifications

We are looking for a specialist physician specialized in child and adolescent psychiatry or general psychiatry, authorized to practice in Sweden. You must have the competence to investigate, assess, and be responsible for patients' medical treatment. You should have good knowledge of diagnostics and pharmacological treatment. Experience in supervision is meritorious, as the role includes supervising resident physicians (ST-läkare).

Additional Information

This is a permanent full-time position. Working hours are during the day, Monday–Friday. Start date is negotiable.

About Us

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Stockholm (BUP) offers specialized psychiatric care for children and adolescents under 18 in Stockholm County. We are part of the Stockholm County Healthcare Services (SLSO), a healthcare provider within Region Stockholm. Together, BUP employs over 1,200 staff members who meet over 22,000 children, adolescents, and their families every year.

The position is subject to the condition that it does not need to be filled by internal transfer, according to current regulations.

For patient-facing roles within Stockholm County Healthcare Services:

• A register check is conducted before the employment decision, in accordance with SLSO’s general guidelines for register checks upon employment.
• Employees who will have patient contact must undergo a pre-employment health examination, as per current directives, conducted through occupational health services prior to employment.
• Good knowledge of Swedish at level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required, in addition to a Swedish professional license. The same requirement applies to non-licensed staff with patient contact.
