A smart and meaningful choice

Do you want to be part of developing a safe and sustainable workplace where occupational health and safety is a natural part of operations? Do you thrive in a role where you can combine analysis, collaboration, and improvement work? Then the role of Occupational Health and Safety Engineer at Iggesund Mill might be right for you.

Your next workplace

At Iggesund Mill, we manufacture world-leading premium cartons under the brand name Invercote. Our products are used worldwide and are appreciated for their high quality and low climate footprint. Around 750 employees work here, developing sustainable solutions based on the Swedish forest.

You will become part of the QHSE function (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) within the Development Department. Here, you will work together with another Occupational Health and Safety Engineer and engaged colleagues who contribute every day to a secure, safe, and sustainable workplace. With us, you will work in a business where occupational health and safety is a strategically important issue and where continuous improvements are a natural part of everyday life.

Your next challenge

As an Occupational Health and Safety Engineer at Iggesund Mill, you will have the opportunity to influence how we work with safety and occupational health – every day. You will lead the development of our systematic occupational health and safety work (SAM) and contribute to strengthening a safety culture where preventive work, participation, and continuous improvements are an integral part of operations.

You will act as a specialist and advisor to management, supervisors, and employees on matters concerning occupational health and safety, risk management, and legislation. Through close collaboration with operations, you will translate analyses and legal requirements into concrete improvements that make a real difference – both for our employees and for the continued development of the business.

In the role, you will among other things:

  • Lead, coordinate, and further develop systematic occupational health and safety work in accordance with current legislation and Holmen's working methods.
  • Identify, analyze, and follow up on occupational health and safety risks, as well as conduct and document risk assessments, safety rounds, and accident investigations.
  • Drive improvement projects that strengthen the safety culture and develop the business's working methods.
  • Be the contact person for authorities, such as the Swedish Work Environment Authority, and collaborate with external actors.
  • Educate and support managers and safety representatives so that occupational health and safety issues become a natural part of daily leadership.
  • Contribute to the development of occupational health and safety strategies and long-term goals for Iggesund Mill.

This is a role for you who wants more than just to ensure compliance. You want to influence how people work, how risks are prevented, and how a strong safety culture develops over time. With us, you will have the opportunity to turn ideas into improvements and contribute to a workplace where safety always comes first.

To succeed in the role

We are looking for someone who enjoys creating structure, building trusting relationships, and driving development together with others. You have a strategic perspective but also appreciate being close to operations where the improvements actually happen.

We see that you have:

  • A university degree as an Occupational Health and Safety Engineer or equivalent.
  • Experience with systematic occupational health and safety work (SAM).
  • Good knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and relevant regulations (AML and AFS).
  • Experience in accident and incident investigations.
  • Knowledge of risk management and risk assessment.
  • Ability to work structured with analysis, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • A valid driver's license (Category B).

It is meritorious if you have experience of contacting authorities, planning and conducting training, and driving change and improvement work within the occupational health and safety field.

As a person, you are structured, analytical, and self-initiating. You communicate clearly, have a knack for creating engagement, and are motivated by developing both people and working methods. You see the big picture and work long-term to create a safe and sustainable working environment.

We offer you

With us, you will get a specialist role with great trust and the opportunity to influence. You will become an important part of our work to develop the working environment and safety culture at one of Sweden's leading industrial companies.

Through collaboration with other mills within Holmen, both in Sweden and with our mill in Workington, England, you will have the opportunity to exchange experiences, develop your specialist area, and contribute to the group's joint work for a safe and sustainable working environment.

At Iggesund Mill, you get the best of both worlds – a workplace with short decision-making paths where you can make a real difference, while being part of Holmen, a long-term and sustainable group with great development opportunities. We believe in collaboration, knowledge sharing, and leadership that creates engagement. Here you will have the opportunity to develop together with competent colleagues and contribute to a workplace where people can work safely, develop, and thrive.
