Do you long to create meaningful encounters with children and young people?

Children are facing increasing risks. This is why we, as a church, want to increase our presence in the city center where the needs are greatest. As part of this effort, we are opening a meeting place for children and adults every Friday at Vasakyrkan.

Your role

is to be present at Vasakyrkan on Vasaplan, together with colleagues from the Church of Sweden in Umeå. There, you will meet children and young people in our open drop-in activity on Friday evenings. Here, you will create a safe and welcoming space that allows room for conversation, creativity, and community.

You will help shape the activities, contribute ideas, and assist in developing the content based on the needs and interests of the young people.

We are looking for

someone who is confident, approachable, and able to build safe relationships with children aged 11–14. You have experience participating in church activities for children and young people, as well as experience leading youth and children's activities within a church context. You must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.

Having completed the Church of Sweden’s leadership training for young people, or equivalent, is an advantage.

Terms of employment

The position involves working in the drop-in activity two to three Friday evenings per month. The activity is open from 16:00 to 20:00. Time for joint and individual planning and preparation is added to the working hours. The employment is a fixed-term hourly position starting in the autumn, subject to agreement. There are three positions available.

Interviews will take place on August 20th.

A certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) will be required prior to employment.
