Description

As a Water Specialist, you play a key role in protecting and managing our water resources. This means you are responsible for supervision and examination of water activities and shore protection matters under the Environmental Code – a task that requires both analytical skills and a willingness to collaborate. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a difference, both for the environment and for society. You will belong to the Environmental Examination Unit, which consists of approximately 15 employees.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities cover a wide spectrum:

• Investigate and assess how different operations affect water environments, from small-scale projects like private jetties to larger initiatives such as wetlands, subsea cables or road culverts.
• Work with supervision and examination of water activities, ensuring that legislation, environmental quality standards and environmental goals are followed.
• Respond to consultations and collaborate with other units within the authority and external actors, where your knowledge contributes to sustainable solutions in, for example, planning matters.

Most of the work is done at the computer and in collaboration with colleagues, where you investigate, assess and make decisions in various cases. There is sometimes the opportunity to go out in the field, especially in supervision cases.

In the role of Water Specialist, you work independently and are responsible for your own cases. At the same time, you are part of a team where you discuss and make assessments together. You work closely with both colleagues and external actors, with good opportunities for development in your role.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a bachelor's or master's degree in limnology, marine biology, hydrology, water management or law with an environmental law focus. Alternatively, other education or experience that we consider equivalent.

In the role, you will have many contacts with private individuals, companies, municipalities and organizations. You must have good ability to communicate both orally and in writing in Swedish. This also requires you to provide good treatment and good service to the people and actors you contact.

To succeed in the assignment, you need to be curious and have the ability to work independently. You dare to take on and solve new assignments and tasks on your own as well as in collaboration with colleagues. You take responsibility for your tasks and drive processes forward towards set goals. It is important that you can plan, structure and prioritize work in an effective way and that you meet deadlines. Since you are part of a work group, it is required that you have good collaboration skills. We consider it natural that you contribute to a good working climate.

You will face many challenging and interesting problems which require the ability to analyze and find solutions, as well as the ability to make assessments and weigh together complex information and different types of considerations.

It is meritorious to have experience of authority exercise and work with supervision and examination under the Environmental Code. It is also meritorious to have experience of working with supervision and examination within water activities and shore protection, as well as having a B driving license.

The position is adapted as much as possible to your competence, based on the needs of the operations.
