The Air Combat School (LSS) is the Air Force's joint competence centre for education and development. At LSS you will find the Air Force's schools, the Air Force's development unit, and the Swedish Armed Forces' Canine Service Unit. LSS plays a crucial role in the development and growth of the future Air Force.
About the Unit
The Swedish Armed Forces' Canine Service Unit (FHTE) is part of the Air Combat School (LSS). FHTE is responsible for the production, follow-up, and coordination of service dogs in the Swedish Armed Forces "from breeding planning to operational teams". FHTE has the task of developing the canine service and supplying the Swedish Armed Forces' combat units with service dogs that meet the Armed Forces' high demands. Together with their handlers, the service dogs are trained for missions within the Swedish Armed Forces, both nationally and internationally. FHTE is now seeking a temporary Dog Caretaker at the facility in Märsta/Sigtuna.
About the Position
Fixed-term employment (75%) until 2026-12-31.
Main Responsibilities
- Daily care and maintenance of the dog kennel
- Exercise of Swedish Armed Forces dogs
- Care and maintenance of equipment and vehicles
- Follow-up and documentation of daily work
- Administrative tasks related to the operations
Qualifications
- Upper secondary education
- Previous practical experience working in a dog kennel
- Previous practical experience working with dogs
- Good computer skills
- Category B driver's license (manual transmission)
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who thrives in a varied job with a high degree of independence and responsibility. We assume that you are a communicative and judicious person who finds it easy to collaborate with others. Business travel, such as transporting dogs, will occur. Weekend and evening work will also be required.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Merits

- Upper secondary diploma from an agricultural college
