The Psychiatric Clinic at Norrlands University Hospital in Umeå is the largest psychiatric clinic in Norrland, with over 400 employees. We have three general psychiatric wards, forensic psychiatric services, and several specialized outpatient and treatment units. The Psychiatric Clinic works towards equitable care for all and nursing based on research and clinical experience. The clinic is located in a newly built building where the care environment is designed with the belief that the care setting plays a crucial role in promoting health. The living and working environment is supported by modern technology and research, evident in the lighting and communication systems. The clinic is climate-smart through self-sufficiency in electricity and heating, among other things.

We are now looking for a Nursing Assistant

Forensic Psychiatry in Umeå has an inpatient ward in security class 2, an outpatient clinic, and an examination unit.

The forensic psychiatric ward has 20 care beds. Forensic Psychiatry primarily receives individuals sentenced to forensic psychiatric care, as well as clients from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service who require psychiatric care/assessment, and patients who need care in higher security classes.

The goal of our care is to reduce recidivism by improving mental health/well-being and developing individual and stable support functions so that patients can return to society. Your role in achieving this goal is important as you are the one who meets the patients daily. The work takes place at a balanced pace where time for reflection and conversation is prioritized.

To succeed in the role, you will receive an introduction and training.

Job Responsibilities

As a nursing assistant with us, you contribute to taking good care of others and helping people feel better. Your tasks will include, among other things, spending time with and activating patients on the ward on a daily basis.

You assist with medical assessments together with doctors and nurses. You perform sample collections and document in Cosmic. Basic tasks such as meal handling, cleaning, and inventory management are also part of the job.

You work according to the ward's security routines and provide support and supervision during outdoor activities. If coercive measures are needed, you participate in this, which means being prepared for potential physical interventions.

Work at Forensic Psychiatry is patient-focused and based on interaction and conversation. Care is adapted to the patient's functional level and difficulties.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a completed nursing assistant education. Since "nursing assistant" is a protected title, you must provide a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare, or alternatively, an employment certificate that places you under the National Board of Health and Welfare's transitional provisions, allowing you to use the title until June 30, 2033.

It is an advantage if you have education in psychiatry and/or experience working in inpatient care/psychiatry/forensic psychiatry.

You enjoy varied workdays and find it rewarding and developing to work with people, contribute to taking good care of others, and work towards helping people feel better. Furthermore, you have the ability to work at a varying pace and enjoy learning new things.

We also look for someone interested in contributing their knowledge to develop operations within the clinic.
