Project Manager for Development of Dance and Circus Sector in Northern Sweden

Do you want to help develop the conditions for the dance and circus sector in northern Sweden?
We are looking for an engaged project manager who wants to lead a three-year development project where the four northernmost counties together build a long-term sustainable model for collaboration regarding promoter development, producer support, and touring structures within dance and circus.
About the project
With support from the four northern regions and the Swedish Arts Council, the project aims to strengthen access to professional dance and circus throughout northern Sweden, with a special focus on smaller towns and rural areas. Through collaboration between the regions, we want to create sustainable structures that strengthen promoters' capacity to present dance and circus, as well as enhance producers' conditions for touring and reaching smaller venues and stages.
The project combines constructive development work with competence-building initiatives for promoters and producers. A central part of the work is building collaboration through practical implementation, joint learning, and long-term relationships between actors in the four counties.
Responsibilities
We are currently looking for you with good experience in project management and work within the promoter and dance/circus sector. You thrive working both independently and in groups, and you have a knack for networking and building relationships. You are strategic and organized in your work and have a burning interest in development processes. To thrive and achieve good results in this role, both social and digital competence are required.
As project manager, you are responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving the project's implementation together with the project's collaboration partners. You share budget responsibility and report to the steering group. You will also serve as the chairperson for the project's reference group. Otherwise, you work independently and have the freedom to plan and structure your work in the way that suits you best.
The role includes, among other things:
- Leading the project's development and implementation according to set goals.
- Building and developing collaboration between the four northernmost counties.
- Creating and maintaining networks with promoters, producers, and other relevant actors.
- Identifying and engaging promoters to ensure a broad geographical spread of the project's efforts.
- Coordinating efforts that strengthen promoters' ability to arrange dance and circus performances.
- Contributing to creating conditions for producers to adapt their productions to smaller stages and venues.
- Collaborating with the steering group, communicator, and other project resources.
- Responsible for project monitoring, reporting, and economy.
We are looking for you who
- Have good experience in project management, preferably within the cultural sector.
- Have a good ability to create and develop collaborations between different actors.
- Are structured, self-initiative, and accustomed to driving processes forward.
- Have knowledge and experience in performing arts, dance, and/or circus.
- Enjoy working both strategically and operationally.
- Have good communication skills and experience in networking.
- Have a B driving license and the opportunity to travel within the four northernmost counties.

Practical information
The project is driven through collaboration between Dance Consultants in the four northern counties, Riksteatern Norra, Dans i Nord, Norrdans, and Danscentrum Norr. The project owner and employer is Riksteatern Jämtland Härjedalen.
We prefer that you are resident in one of the four northern counties to enable outreach activities; the work can to some extent be done remotely. An office place can be offered in Härnösand/Sundsvall, Piteå, Umeå, or Östersund.
Travel within the 4 northern regions occurs.
Fixed-term employment: October 1, 2026 – September 30, 2029. The project and employment are extended annually.
Scope: 80%. A lower percentage (40–80%) may possibly be possible. State your preference for scope in your application.
Working hours: Flexible, mainly daytime, but evenings and weekends occur. Possibility to adapt and combine with other employment.
Salary: Fixed monthly salary.
