We offer an exciting position as a temporary Environmental Coordinator while the permanent Environmental Coordinator is on parental leave. The position is region-wide and strategically placed within the Regional Staff Department for Sustainability and Safety. You will be involved in how environmental sustainability work develops over time, in collaboration with all operations and colleagues across the region.

As an Environmental Coordinator, you play a central role in the region's work to increase environmental sustainability. You coordinate collaborations and drive development in areas such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, consumables, and sustainable working methods. Furthermore, you work on developing and updating guidelines, routines, and information materials within the environmental field, as well as monitoring legislation and other requirements that affect operations.

You also participate in improvement and development projects that contribute to a more sustainable use of materials and resources. In this role, you act as an advisor and support in environmental and sustainability issues. You participate in supervisory visits, contribute to the development of management systems, and conduct training for the operations' sustainability representatives. The work also includes internal audits and support during external audits.

About you

You have a relevant university degree and preferably a few years of work experience in the sustainability field, which the employer deems suitable. You have knowledge of environmental legislation and experience of environmental or sustainability work in an operation or organization. Experience of environmental management systems and internal auditing is meritorious.

To thrive in the role, you need to be able to plan and prioritize your work in a structured manner. You find it easy to establish contacts, communicate with different target groups, and build trusting relationships. You are proactive, see opportunities for improvement, and enjoy turning ideas into practical solutions.

The work may involve travel, and a Category B driver's license is required. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability and teamwork skills.

Selection will be made on an ongoing basis. The position is a temporary assignment with a start date no later than October.

Your future workplace

The Regional Staff Department for Sustainability and Safety is a central support function working region-wide for an environmentally sustainable and safe operation. We are a total of 17 employees who provide support in various issues within quality, environment, sustainability, safety, crisis and preparedness, information security, and management systems. We have close cooperation both within the unit and with other staff departments as well as administrations to jointly find sustainable and safe solutions.

Our unit is part of the Regional Staff, which consists of 150 employees with expertise in areas such as economics, law, HR, communication, planning, coordination, sustainability, safety, infectious disease control, and infection prevention. All work to develop the organization and improve the lives of the inhabitants of Kalmar County. Within our respective areas of expertise, we also support the management, managers, and administrations of Region Kalmar County.
