About the position

Within Waste Management, we offer the residents of Örebro environmentally sound and cost-effective waste handling. Our waste is a resource that is preserved through recycling. Recycled materials are used to produce new items, thereby saving our natural resources. As an employee within Waste at the Technical Administration, you contribute to making everyday life easier for the residents. Our mission is to provide sustainable and accessible waste management that motivates and makes it easy for residents to sort correctly. We do this in close dialogue and interaction with colleagues, politics, citizens, and business. Here, you get a chance to develop both yourself and the municipality.

Examples of tasks:

  • collect waste with rear-loading garbage trucks
  • transport hazardous waste
  • empty containers
  • participate in our bin service work and possibly perform other machine services
  • follow current traffic rules and safety regulations
  • maintain the operation's vehicles
  • work with quality and environmental awareness
  • ongoing reporting in current operational systems

About the workplace

Within Waste, you become part of a team of approximately 70 employees who work together to deliver sustainable and accessible waste management. We want to make it easy for residents to sort correctly and reduce their waste. We operate from several different workplaces and move across the entire municipality of Örebro to take care of the municipality's waste, which means you will meet many colleagues and residents in your daily work.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are social and service-oriented and who do your best to deliver solutions in meetings with both colleagues and citizens. Your ability to collaborate is good, but you also thrive working independently. You master the Swedish language in both speech and writing as the work involves many contacts with the citizens of Örebro Municipality. To succeed in the role of waste collector, it is required that you take responsibility for physically being able to handle the tasks, as the position may involve some strenuous duties. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

  • completed and approved upper secondary education or other education deemed suitable by the employer
  • driver's license with category C
  • valid certificate of professional competence for heavy goods vehicles (CPC)
  • good physical condition

Merits:

  • ADR training
  • some computer literacy

Scope and start date

Employment type: Fixed-term contract (vacancy cover), varying periods depending on which truck you are covering for.

Workload: 100%

Start date: As agreed

Number of positions: 1–3
