We are looking for an engaged and strategic Head of Urban Planning who wants to lead the development of a sustainable, attractive, and growing Ljusdal.

The Urban Planning Unit belongs to the Livsmiljö (Living Environment) sector and is responsible for the municipality's work within physical planning, land issues, mapping and surveying, GIS, municipal ecology, and forestry management. The unit consists of engaged and competent employees who work together to develop Ljusdal Municipality.

As Head of Urban Planning, you are part of the Livsmiljö sector's management group and report directly to the Sector Manager. Within the Livsmiljö sector, operations that shape people's daily lives and the municipality's future in different ways are gathered – from urban planning, construction and environment, and streets and parks to libraries, culture, and leisure activities. Together, we work to make Ljusdal an attractive place to live, work, and visit.

Responsibilities

As Head of Urban Planning, you are responsible for operations, personnel, economy, and work environment within the unit.

The assignment involves leading and developing the operations with a focus on quality, collaboration, and long-term sustainability. You work both strategically and operationally and play an important role in the municipality's development work.

Depending on your competence and experience, the assignment may also include responsibility for the municipality's City Architect function and issues concerning design, architecture, and the quality of the built environment.

Examples of responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the Urban Planning Unit towards set goals.
• Drive and coordinate strategic issues within physical planning and societal development.
• Provide qualified support to employees, managers, and politicians in planning and development issues.
• Contribute to the municipality's work on land strategy issues, housing supply, and sustainable growth.
• Represent the municipality in development projects, external collaborations, and networks.
• Ensure good service, high quality, and legally secure processing within the unit's areas.
• Be responsible for systematic work environment efforts, competence supply, and recruitment.
• Create conditions for inclusive, engaged, and well-being employees.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

• An academic degree in urban planning, physical planning, architecture, landscape architecture, civil engineering, environment, technology, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
• Experience of work within the field of civil engineering or urban planning.
• Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
• A driver's license (Category B).

We would appreciate it if you have experience of strategic development work and feel confident collaborating with many different actors.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience of managerial, leadership, or project management assignments.
• Experience of working in a politically governed organization.
• Knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and other relevant legislation within the field of civil engineering.
• Experience of physical planning, land and development issues, or urban development.
• Experience of working with architecture, design, or city architect issues.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

Conditions

Permanent full-time employment, start date as agreed. Probation period may apply.
