Unit Manager for Occupational Health Services in Hälsingland

The Occupational Health Service in Region Gävleborg consists of 46 employees located in Bollnäs, Hudiksvall, Gävle, and Sandviken. Approximately 15 employees work at the Occupational Health Service in Hälsingland. The position offers flexible placement, and you can base your work from either Bollnäs or Hudiksvall.

Our mission is characterized by breadth, close collaboration with clients, and a consultative approach within various parts of the occupational health and safety field. We assist managers and employees in their tasks by strengthening and developing systematic occupational health and safety work, identifying risks, and proposing measures to promote health and prevent ill health, as well as providing support in work-oriented rehabilitation. The overarching goal is for the Occupational Health Service to provide the best possible support to strengthen a health-promoting perspective and approach to health and safety at work.

Responsibilities

As the Unit Manager for the Occupational Health Service in Hälsingland, you will be responsible for ensuring efficient delivery and high quality in assignments, so that clients receive qualified support in their occupational health and safety work. The work is based on a consultative approach, where development takes place through dialogue and close collaboration with the client – here you play a central role.

You have overall responsibility for employees, budget, and occupational health and safety within the unit. You lead and coach occupational health specialists with various competencies and create conditions for high participation, which is a key success factor. Through your leadership, you contribute to employees being able to carry out their tasks with high quality. Employees are located in different parts of the county, which means that travel to the various units is a natural part of the assignment and occurs weekly.

You are part of the management group and report to the Administrative Director.

As Unit Manager, you will among other things:

  • Be responsible for personnel, occupational health and safety, economy, quality, and follow-up.
  • Play an active role in client work and develop long-term client relationships.
  • Work closely with employees to create a good understanding of their tasks and daily work.
  • Drive business planning and initiate and lead improvement and development work based on environmental scanning.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have the ability to create engagement and contribute to others reaching their goals. You are confident in your leadership, have a coaching approach, and create good conditions for participation and development. You easily establish and develop sustainable and trusting relationships, both internally and externally, and have a consultative working method.

You are calm, stable, and structured, and have the ability to maintain focus even in pressured situations. You take responsibility for delivering according to set goals and expectations and drive development and improvement work forward.

The role places high demands on integrity, judgment, and a professional approach, as handling sensitive individual cases related to work and health is a natural part of the operations. You have the ability to make well-balanced assessments in complex situations and contribute to creating a secure culture and clear structures regarding information management.

We also see that you have a strong interest in occupational health and safety issues and are driven to develop the operations in line with the demands and opportunities of the external environment. You actively follow developments in the field, have an interest in research- and knowledge-based work, and see digitalization as a natural part of operational development.

Requirements for the role:

  • University degree in a relevant field.
  • Management experience with personnel and budget responsibility.
  • Experience leading cross-professional teams.
  • Experience working in or leading operations with sensitive individual cases.
  • Good knowledge of confidentiality legislation, secrecy obligations, and data protection (GDPR).
  • Valid driver's license (Category B).

For this position, it is meritorious if you have education in the field of occupational health, experience from publicly governed operations, and/or experience from occupational health services.
