The Infrastructure Department at the Traffic Office within Stockholm City has approximately 90 employees and a broad scope of operations. The department handles project implementation, management of the city's bridges, tunnels, traffic signal systems, and public lighting. The operations encompass everything from major operation and maintenance projects to investment and reinvestment in the city's facilities, street costs, urban environment improvements, as well as collaborative projects with the Swedish Transport Administration and the Traffic Administration.

We are now looking for a person who wants to lead important projects in the city and contribute to a sustainable Stockholm. Your role

As a project manager with us, you are responsible for driving reinvestment projects within the city's infrastructure. As a project manager, you play a key role in the planning, design, and implementation phases of projects, where you drive the project within given frameworks and towards the city's goals. You will handle your assigned projects with regard to safety, sustainability, and efficiency.

Your responsibilities include among other things:

  • Independently lead, plan, administer, and steer your assigned projects.
  • Responsibility for results, budget, and follow-up in accordance with the office's routines.
  • Staff and organize projects with the right competence (e.g., specialists, consultants, and contractors).
  • Responsible for and manage risks and opportunities in the projects.
  • Ensure that quality, environment, and working conditions are met according to current laws and regulations in the projects.
  • Responsible for ordering services via framework agreements and participating in the procurement of contractors according to the Public Procurement Act (LOU) in your assigned projects.
  • Collaborate and hold dialogue with external parties as well as cross-functionally within the city.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for you who have:

  • A university education with a focus on infrastructure (e.g., civil engineering, urban planning, town planning) or another equivalent focus.
  • Current and several years of experience as a project manager of infrastructure reinvestment projects.
  • Experience with result, budget, and follow-up responsibility within construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Good knowledge of contract law and industry regulations such as AMA, MER, AB/ABT, and ABK.
  • Experience with document management systems such as Avima.
  • Knowledge of the Public Procurement Act (LOU) and understanding of how the regulations affect procurement and project implementation.
  • Very good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
  • Category B driver's license.

It is meritorious if you also have:

  • Experience with complex projects within infrastructure.
  • Experience with project management of reinvestment regarding buildings, streets, pedestrian, and cycle paths.
  • Experience in negotiating, drawing up, and following up on consultancy and construction contracts.
  • Experience working in a politically governed organization.

You work independently, structured, and have a good ability to prioritize, make well-founded decisions, and drive the work forward towards set goals, schedules, and budgets. It is also important that you can work efficiently and long-term in your assignments and have the ability to prioritize and quickly switch between different types of operational issues and make trade-offs based on both technical, economic, and operational perspectives. As a person and leader, you are secure, communicative, and relationship-building, with the ability to collaborate and work with many different actors, both internal and external contractors and consultants. To succeed in the role, you need to be able to see and understand the whole picture and lead projects towards constructive, sustainable, and economically value-creating solutions.
