Water is our most important food source, and the water supply on Gotland is a pressing and current issue. The Water and Waste Department is responsible for the development, renewal, and operation of Gotland's facilities, such as water intakes, water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, pipe networks, landfills, and recycling centers. We ensure a secure and sustainable water and wastewater supply for our subscribers and contribute to Gotland's sustainable development through good planning and prioritization, where employees are involved and have significant responsibility within the framework of a good work environment.
The department consists of approximately 130 employees with long and extensive experience. You are never alone in your work; you always have support close at hand.
The position belongs to the Planning and Development Unit (PUV) with a workplace in Visby. The unit is responsible for the planning and design of new expansions and renewals of water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and pressure boosting stations, etc. PUV also drives projects that form the basis for strategic decisions regarding Region Gotland's continued and future water and wastewater supply. The assignment also includes process development at Gotland's water and wastewater treatment plants, where analysis of operational data and process trends is used to improve treatment results, energy efficiency, and chemical consumption. The unit works closely with the operations organization, designers, and external specialists to produce operational documentation and documentation for the continued development and capacity of the facilities.

Your responsibilities
As a Process Technician in the Water and Waste Department, you are responsible for optimizing and developing the processes at our water and wastewater treatment plants. You analyze operational data and process trends to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure that our facilities maintain high performance, for example, regarding treatment results, energy efficiency, and chemical consumption.
We work in a project-driven operation, which means that a large part of the process development takes place in project form. You drive improvement projects from analysis to implementation, often in close collaboration with designers and other specialists, and contribute with your process knowledge throughout the entire project.
An important part of the role is to produce and maintain operational documentation for the operations organization, so that the plants can be operated optimally and with the right conditions. You also produce documentation for strategic decisions regarding the continued development and capacity of the facilities.
The role involves close collaboration with operations staff, designers, and external specialists to jointly create sustainable and future-proof process solutions for all of Gotland.

Who are you?
You have an academic education in chemical engineering, biotechnology, environmental technology, water and wastewater technology, or equivalent. A university college degree (YH) with a process focus combined with several years of relevant experience may be considered equivalent.
We are looking for you who have at least three years of documented experience from operations or process development at water or wastewater treatment plants. You have a good understanding of biological, chemical, and mechanical treatment processes and are accustomed to interpreting and analyzing operational data. It is particularly meritorious if you have experience in process development with a focus on energy efficiency or chemical consumption, as well as knowledge of current legislation and permit requirements within water and wastewater. Since we work in a project-driven operation, previous project experience or project management experience is also meritorious.
As a person, you are analytical and solution-oriented and enjoy finding root causes and driving improvement work. You are self-initiating and take your own initiatives, while communicating clearly and being able to convey technical conclusions to both colleagues and decision-makers. You work systematically and document your work carefully. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
A Class B driver's license is a requirement as the role involves site visits at our technical facilities.
