Do you want to work on socially significant projects where the environment, sustainability, and future infrastructure are in focus? We are now looking for an environmental consultant specializing in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and permitting processes to join our environmental group in Karlstad.

At Norconsult, we have over 100 employees working with various environmental issues, of which nearly 50 people work with EIAs and permitting. The environmental group in Karlstad currently consists of five environmental consultants with broad and deep expertise. We now want to strengthen and complement the team with a junior employee. Having a few years of industry experience is meritorious but not required.

In Karlstad, we work with environmental assessments, nature value inventories, and EIAs in various infrastructure projects. We perform both strategic environmental assessments of plans and programs, as well as specific environmental assessments for permitting-required activities within the infrastructure sector (power lines, roads, and railways). We handle notifications, permits, and dispensations regarding, for example, coastal protection, habitat protection, cultural heritage, species protection, and water activities that may be required for various projects.

As an environmental consultant, you will have the opportunity to work in multidisciplinary projects together with competent colleagues, with great opportunities for development where we learn and share knowledge with each other. Here you will find an inclusive and flexible workplace where collaboration and joy are in focus. We believe in having fun at work!

You will work as a case handler in both large and small projects across Sweden. We have many exciting assignments where you will get the chance to develop within environmental assessments and in all parts of the permitting process. As an environmental consultant with us, you will assist with everything from consultation documents, location investigations, sustainability adaptation of detailed plans and overview plans from early consultation stages through to adoption, as well as permit applications and notifications according to the Environmental Code.

Your Profile

You are a curious, engaged, and communicative person who appreciates a varied daily routine and collaborating with several different people, both within your own group and with other competencies within Norconsult, as well as together with our customers in meetings or during site visits.

To succeed in the role, you need:

  • a relevant higher education/university degree in environmental science, natural science, civil engineering, or similar
  • to be independent, structured, and proactive
  • an interest in environmental issues and sustainable development
  • to enjoy writing reports and to be skilled at expressing yourself in speech and writing
  • to be adaptable, open to jumping into different tasks and roles with short or long notice
  • to enjoy working on multiple projects in parallel

We consider knowledge in GIS to be meritorious.
