Do you want to help develop the hospital physics of the future in Region Värmland? We are looking for a hospital physicist for Imaging and Functional Diagnostics at Karlstad Central Hospital.
Your workplace
The department is facing an exciting development with the establishment of a new PET/CT unit and a future move to new premises as part of the New Central Hospital (Nya CSK) project. This creates opportunities to contribute to continued development and to be part of the introduction of new technology and working methods.
Imaging and functional diagnostics include X-ray, MRI, and nuclear medicine. We currently have three hospital physicists. Our operations are distributed across three emergency hospitals and various smaller clinics. You will be stationed at Karlstad Central Hospital. The region also provides radiation therapy, where four hospital physicists currently work.
Hospital physics at Karlstad Central Hospital works closely with the clinical operations to ensure high patient safety, quality, and development. We offer a work environment characterized by collaboration, accessibility, and an open climate where ideas are valued. With the New Central Hospital project, opportunities are created for modern healthcare, developed working methods, and attractive research and development environments.
Here, you will work in a competent and engaged team with good opportunities to influence operations and develop throughout your career.
We are a small, tight-knit group of physicists where you will have significant personal responsibility, close collegial support, and varied tasks.
We have experienced colleagues with specialist competence in nuclear medicine and radiological physics, and we offer the possibility of specialist training (ST) with local supervision.
Your responsibilities
As a hospital physicist here, you will primarily work within nuclear medicine, with tasks related to clinical operations. Depending on the department's needs and your interests, there are good opportunities to develop broad competence and contribute to other areas of diagnostic radiation physics, including surgical specialties and dentistry.
You will work, among other things, with isotope therapy, radiation safety, quality control, optimization, method development, and clinical support in close collaboration with doctors, biomedical analysts, radiographers, and other professions.
Your skills and competencies
We are looking for you who are a licensed hospital physicist or who will obtain licensure shortly. Experience in nuclear medicine, radiology, or MRI is meritorious but not a requirement; we welcome candidates who are at the beginning of their career as well.
You are self-reliant and enjoy working both independently and in teams. Through your flexibility, you adapt to changing conditions, while communicating clearly and working in a structured manner by planning and prioritizing your tasks.
You thrive in a developing operation and are happy to contribute ideas and improvement work. You express yourself well in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing. Personal suitability is highly valued.
Previous work in nuclear medicine and/or competence in radiation protection and regulatory matters is meritorious.
