The County Administrative Board is an important coordinating link in the interface between the state, region, municipality, business sector, and individuals. The County Administrative Board works to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county, while taking regional conditions and prerequisites into account. This involves balancing important public interests and resolving goal conflicts. The County Administrative Board has a broad and multifaceted mandate regarding both tasks and subject areas. The authority's main tasks include permit assessment, supervision, knowledge dissemination, and coordination within many societal areas. Around 230 people work here, and our head is the County Governor.

Description

The position is located at the Environmental Protection unit within the Contaminated Land function. At Environmental Protection, a total of 23 people work with assessment and supervision according to the Environmental Code within environmentally hazardous activities, contaminated areas, and nature conservation. We also work with supervisory guidance towards the county's municipalities.

Responsibilities

You will work with supervision of contaminated areas at ongoing and discontinued operations where the County Administrative Board is the supervisory authority. The supervisory work involves, among other things, communication with affected operators and property owners, drafting injunctions, reviewing sampling plans and investigation reports, and risk classification of objects. The function's responsibilities also include handling grants for investigations and remediation measures. You will also contribute your expertise regarding contaminated areas in cases and projects handled by other functions and units at the County Administrative Board.

The work is independent but also involves teamwork with alignment of direction, prioritization, and assessments within the group. The tasks will to some extent be able to be directed based on your previous experience, competence, and areas of interest.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a technical or scientific university/college education with a focus on environment, chemistry, geology, hydrogeology, or other education that the employer considers equivalent. Knowledge of the Environmental Code's provisions on assessment and supervision is a prerequisite for the work.

It is meritorious if you have worked according to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's Methodology for Inventory of Contaminated Areas (MIFO). It is also meritorious if you have experience with risk classification of sediment and PFAS-contaminated areas. We would like you to have experience with assessment or supervision issues, particularly related to contaminated areas.

You have good communication skills and find it easy to collaborate with others as the position has many internal and external contacts. We are looking for you who are structured and good at planning and prioritizing in your work. You can express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and care about good and professional treatment.

A Category B driver's license is required.

Conditions

Temporary position with 80% scope, earliest possible start and latest until 2026-12-31.
