Your workplace
Region South at the Swedish Migration Agency is one of the agency's three regions. The region covers Norrköping, Malmö, Växjö, Åstorp, and Ljungbyhed, and consists of 6 sections plus an administration office. The operations in the region are broad and cover all types of case categories handled by the agency. The process for citizenship is the joint responsibility of Region South and Region West.
About your assignment
As a Unit Manager at the Swedish Migration Agency, you will have the opportunity to lead a unit in constant development, where improvements and long-term thinking are a natural part of everyday life. The unit currently consists of approximately twenty dedicated employees, and you will become an important player in the section management group. You are part of a leadership group consisting of 7 unit managers, all with citizenship as their assignment, and led by the Section Manager. The leadership group works closely together with the same direction and goals. Being a team player and able to collaborate with all types of people is therefore crucial for thriving in the role.
You have full responsibility for personnel, budget, and work environment and lead your team by being present, supportive, and decisive. Together with your employees, you identify areas for improvement, create structure and conditions for participation, and drive a culture of responsibility and development.
Your qualifications

You are present in your leadership and create participation and conditions for your employees to grow and take responsibility in a climate that inspires joy in work, initiative, and efficiency. You have strong analytical skills and the ability to see the big picture, which enables you to make well-founded decisions even during times of change. You are confident in yourself and demonstrate good judgment, while simultaneously creating engagement and building good collaborations.
Your leadership is characterized by clear direction, empathy in interactions with others, and courage in decision-making.
In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.
We are looking for someone who has:
- An academic education of at least 120 credits in a relevant field, or other education combined with current and relevant experience for the role
- Leadership experience within public sector operations
- At least one year of managerial experience with responsibility for budget, personnel, and work environment
- Good knowledge and ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and English
- Swedish citizenship
It is meritorious if you have:
- Managerial experience from state operations
- Experience leading and developing operations in change with good operational results
- Knowledge of administrative law and experience of case handling within administrative law
- Experience of working within examination operations
Security clearance with register check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) will be conducted. The employment presupposes a passed security clearance.
