At the moment, IBM Consulting is strengthening our team in Stockholm with experienced backend developers, primarily for the public sector. Here, you can help build and further develop systems that make a difference in society – every day.

About the role

As a backend developer at IBM Consulting, you will work together with other IBM colleagues and/or our customers to develop secure and long-term sustainable solutions in complex IT environments.

You typically work in agile teams that have overall responsibility for their area and handle everything from requirements analysis, planning, and implementation to verification and testing. You contribute your technical expertise, and great importance is placed on your ability to continuously improve working methods and processes, for example through automation and AI solutions. On-site work at a customer location in another city may occur.

What we are looking for

You are a curious team player who enjoys mentoring junior colleagues. You thrive in customer-facing roles. You are confident in your skills and have several years of experience in backend development, preferably in larger organizations. You enjoy technology and understanding the big picture – how systems connect and why they are built the way they are.

We believe you have:

• several years of experience in backend development (preferably 5+ years)
• strong competence in Java and Spring
• experience building and working with APIs (REST)
• competence in architecture and design patterns
• experience working with databases, both SQL and NoSQL
• experience with application development in the cloud (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• experience with agile methods and ways of working
• fluent Swedish and English in both speech and writing
• the right to work in Sweden without restrictions at the time of application

And preferably also:

• experience with AI/ML or data-driven solutions
• experience with unit testing (e.g., JUnit)
• experience with CI/CD and tools like Jenkins
• Experience with Git and modern development workflows
