The Security Department of the Swedish Migration Agency is part of the headquarters and has overall responsibility for security and preparedness within the authority. At the Security Department, specialists work with information security, physical security, personnel security, crisis preparedness and civil defense, internal investigations, employee protection, and other security issues spanning from operational security to security clearance.

The Swedish Migration Agency's mandate includes developing and managing international cooperation regarding migration. The authority coordinates and conducts migration activities at Sweden's foreign missions, implements development cooperation in selected countries, cooperates with international organizations, and posts personnel abroad, among other things, on behalf of various EU authorities. This means that staff often travel internationally, not infrequently to countries with specific security challenges. Developments in the external environment and unforeseen international events affect the authority to a high degree. The Swedish Migration Agency is therefore seeking a travel security expert with experience from strategic and operational security work.

The position is organizationally located at the Preparedness Unit within the Security Department. The location is in Stockholm or Malmö. At the unit, specialists work within employee protection and travel security as well as preparedness and civil defense. Main responsibilities

In the role of expert in travel security, you, together with colleagues, are responsible for defining, quality assuring, and communicating on both strategic and operational travel security issues within the authority. The role includes supporting operations with qualified risk analyses and risk-reducing measures, often against the background of complex threat landscapes. The work also includes coordinating training in travel security. You will collaborate with other authorities and international actors. Furthermore, the role involves monitoring the external environment in the area. The position also entails coordinating travel security issues with other security matters within the authority. You are expected to work closely with and support colleagues responsible for the overall employee protection work.

You have the ability to see the long-term significance and further consequences of matters and adapt your actions accordingly. You adapt easily to changed circumstances and can quickly change your viewpoint and attitude. You take initiative and can work independently; furthermore, you work in a structured and careful manner while maintaining a holistic view.

Requirements

  • University education, preferably within the security field, or other education that the employer deems relevant for the role.
  • Experience in travel security work.
  • Experience in threat and risk analysis within travel security.
  • Very good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Class B driver's license.

Merits

  • Experience in conducting training in travel security.
  • Experience in staff work.
  • Experience working in the field in conflict or post-conflict environments.
  • Experience in travel security work at a government authority or larger company, as well as inter-agency cooperation.
  • Experience in personal protection.
  • Knowledge of international civilian crisis management.

Employment type: Permanent, with a possibility of an initial probationary period.

Working hours: Office hours or flexible working hours.

Location: Stockholm or Malmö.

Start date: As soon as possible, according to agreement.

A security investigation with register check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) will be conducted. Based on this, there is a requirement for Swedish citizenship. The employment presupposes a passed security investigation.
