Do you want to lead a department that is crucial for the daily life of the municipality's residents? As the Unit Manager for Waste and Collection, you will play a central role in developing and ensuring sustainable and efficient waste management in Skellefteå Municipality.
The department has undergone significant changes in recent years, including the introduction of property-proximity collection and four-compartment bins. The focus now is on continuing to develop the operations, creating efficient working methods, and ensuring a well-functioning collection service for the municipality's residents.
YOUR ROLE
As the Unit Manager for Waste and Collection, you are responsible for a department that collects household waste and packaging from municipal households, as well as waste from certain businesses and operations.
You have overall responsibility for the operations, economy, working environment, and employees. The role also includes responsibility for the contractors who perform parts of the collection in the municipality's outer areas.
An important part of the role is to continue developing the operations together with the employees. This involves both creating conditions for smooth daily operations and driving development issues that contribute to efficient, sustainable, and customer-oriented waste management.
You work closely with other units within the Water and Waste department and are part of the management group, where you collaborate to develop the operations as a whole.
YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for you who have experience in leading operations and employees, as well as in developing working methods, operations, or organizations. You have a post-secondary education from a university or college, or work experience that has given you equivalent knowledge.
It is an advantage if you have experience from waste operations, the environmental sector, or other operations focusing on logistics, operations, or public services.
To succeed in the role, you need to be confident in your leadership and have the ability to create participation, engagement, and accountability within the team. You collaborate well with others and build trusting relationships with employees, colleagues, and external partners.
You work in a structured manner and have the ability to plan, prioritize, and follow up on operations when multiple issues are ongoing simultaneously. The role involves many contact surfaces, which requires that you can communicate well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
You have good digital skills. Experience with EDP Future or similar operational systems is an advantage.
A class B driver's license is required.
For this position, you are required by law to present a current extract from the Police Register before any potential employment. This applies to the extract "Work in a leading position within the municipality." You are responsible for ordering the correct extract via polisen.se.
YOUR NEW WORKPLACE
You will become part of the Water and Waste department within the Community Planning Administration. Together, we work to create sustainable solutions for collection, recycling, and waste management in Skellefteå Municipality.
Your workplace is located on Stålvägen in Skellefteå. Here, you work close to the operations and the employees who ensure every day that the collection functions for the municipality's residents.
As an employee in Skellefteå Municipality, you will have access to several benefits, including a fitness allowance, occupational health care, and good opportunities for competence development. You will also become part of a secure organization where collaboration, accountability, and development are a natural part of everyday life.
NICE TO KNOW
We recruit based on competence and focus on your experience, knowledge, and potential. Instead of a cover letter, you answer a few selection questions and attach an updated CV.
The selection process begins after the application deadline on August 10. Candidates who move forward in the process are invited to tests and interviews. We will follow up with all applicants within one week after the application deadline.
