based in Stockholm
Do you want to lead vessel operations in an organization with a vital societal mission?
The Swedish Transport Administration's shipping division is now seeking two secure, proactive, and engaged Fleet Managers who wish to take responsibility for people, operations, and delivery in one of Sweden's most critical societal functions.
The role belongs to the Business Area Vessels within the Shipping Division, which is responsible for work vessels, research vessels, and our icebreakers. To meet future needs, we are currently developing and strengthening the shore-based shipping organization. As a Fleet Manager, you will play a key role in this work and become a central figure in creating the conditions for safe, efficient, and sustainable vessel operations.
You will collaborate closely with colleagues both in the shore-based organization and onboard our vessels.
The role reports to the Head of the Business Area Vessels.
The location is in Norrköping or Stockholm, and travel as part of the job is expected.
Responsibilities
As a Fleet Manager, you are responsible for leading, planning, and coordinating operational vessel operations in both the short and long term. You ensure that the vessels are staffed with the right competencies for each assignment and hold budget, personnel, occupational health and safety, and operational responsibility for the vessels and crews within your area of responsibility.
You monitor, analyze, and develop the organization's results, quality, and delivery. In collaboration with relevant functions, you ensure that the crews' training, qualifications, and certificates are up to date.
You drive occupational health and safety work in accordance with guidelines, legal requirements, and organizational goals, and translate management decisions and changes into practical action.
You contribute to the development of working methods, structures, and collaboration within the shipping division, ensure clear and relevant communication to the vessel crews, and collaborate with employee organizations on matters concerning the Co-determination Act (MBL) and negotiations.
Together with technical functions, you plan and monitor maintenance, technical projects, and shipyard visits.
In close collaboration with HR, you also contribute to the development of leadership, culture, and values.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who have experience leading complex, operational activities with high demands on safety, delivery, and collaboration, or alternatively, experience that we assess as equivalent for the position.
It is meritorious if you have:
- experience from maritime operations, shipping, or other operation-intensive activities.
- experience of personnel responsibility, occupational health and safety responsibility, and budget responsibility.
- experience or knowledge and understanding of public sector organizations.
- experience of union collaboration and labor law issues.
- experience of change management and organizational development.
We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities. We see you as a secure and clear leader with a good ability to create structure, engagement, and accountability. You have a good ability and habit of making decisions, even in situations with time pressure and incomplete information. Furthermore, you are skilled in communication, creating trusting relationships and collaborating with various professions. You are driven by development and creating results together with others, and you create direction even in change.
