We are looking for a Study and Career Counselor in Ljungby Municipality
In Ljungby Municipality, we shape the future together, aiming for 35,000 inhabitants. Those of us who work here are open, forward-thinking, and driven. Through engagement and collaboration, we create a municipality where people and businesses can grow and develop. Do you want to be part of it?
Trust-based management and leadership are the foundation of our organization – and a key to our collective success.
We are now seeking a Study and Career Counselor who wants to contribute to developing and strengthening study and career guidance within the Astrad and Åby school districts. In this role, you will work closely with students, guardians, and school staff to create good conditions for students' future education and career choices.
Responsibilities
As a Study and Career Counselor, you are responsible for guidance within the Astrad and Åby school districts. The position involves working at secondary schools in both districts, with working hours distributed based on operational needs and student numbers.
You work to ensure that students develop knowledge about educational pathways, the labor market, and future opportunities. Through individual and general guidance, you support students in developing decision-making competence and contribute to their ability to make well-informed decisions regarding upper secondary school and further studies.
You are a key resource in the schools' work to integrate study and career guidance as a whole-school responsibility, collaborating closely with school leadership, teachers, and student health services.
Your main tasks include:
- Individual study and career guidance for students in grades 7–9.
- Group guidance and information efforts regarding upper secondary school choices, educational pathways, and the labor market.
- Information and guidance for guardians regarding upper secondary school choices and further studies.
- Planning, implementation, and follow-up of guidance initiatives that strengthen students' decision-making competence.
- Support for students during the transition from compulsory school to upper secondary school.
- Collaboration with school leadership, teachers, student health services, and external actors.
- Participation in the schools' systematic work on study and career guidance.
- Conducting motivational conversations.
- Documentation and administration related to the guidance role.
- Contributing to the development of equitable practices and routines for guidance within the districts.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in Study and Career Counseling.
- Good knowledge of the education system and the labor market.
- Experience in study and career guidance, preferably within compulsory school.
- Good ability to plan, organize, and structure your work.
- Strong administrative skills and familiarity with digital tools.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Personal Attributes
You work independently, structured, and take responsibility for driving your work forward. You have good collaboration skills and build trusting relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. Through a professional and inclusive approach, you meet students with different needs and prerequisites.
We value that you are engaged in the school's mission and see study and career guidance as an important part of students' learning and future opportunities.
What We Offer
A qualified and developmental assignment where you have the opportunity to contribute to equitable study and career guidance. You will become part of the schools' joint work to provide students with good conditions to reach their goals.
Work-life balance is important to us! We offer flexible hours and remote work where possible. We provide a subsidized annual pass with Länstrafiken, wellness benefits, free membership in the staff club (gym/pool), and much more.
We actively work for a safe working environment and a violence-free municipality. Our latest employee survey shows that 93 percent find the work meaningful and 94 percent feel safe at their workplace.
Application
Employment type: Permanent position (100%).
Start date: According to agreement.
You apply for the position via Offentliga Jobb. Grades and certificates are not attached to the application but should be brought to any potential interview.
We apply smoke-free working hours. The municipality handles the entire recruitment process and therefore declines calls from recruitment agencies and advertising salespeople.
