Do you want to help build the future technical surveillance capabilities of the Swedish Armed Forces? We are now looking for a Section Chief in Kristinehamn – a key role where you will combine leadership, technology, and operational development in a rapidly growing organization.

As Section Chief, you will have a unique opportunity to establish and develop a new section from the ground up. You will become an integral part of the Swedish Armed Forces' continued growth and work together with dedicated colleagues to create the conditions for a stronger defense. Here awaits significant responsibility, a high degree of influence, and excellent opportunities for both personal and professional development.

About the Unit

FMTIS has four implementation units (GE) in Sweden that perform maintenance of the Swedish Armed Forces' command systems within the IT and telecommunications sector. The position is located at GE West. The unit works with maintenance of the Armed Forces' telecommunications network, electrical/mechanical, radio, sensor, and surveillance systems, as well as the installation, operation, and maintenance of a wide variety of IT systems.

The Implementation Department (GA) in Kristinehamn is growing and is now seeking a security technician to strengthen our team, which currently consists of about ten employees. Initially, the Section Chief will take on the role of a senior alarm technician and serve as a mentor for the other technicians in the section. The section will not be fully staffed until 2030, when the new garrison area in Kristinehamn is ready for use.

Main Responsibilities

You lead and distribute work within your section with support from the Department Manager. You are responsible for your employees' individual development and conduct, among other things, employee interviews, scheduling, and training planning. You will actively participate in production as well as other typical duties for a "first-line manager," such as:

  • Represent, lead, and develop personnel and operations
  • Plan, ensure quality, and follow up on production
  • Be responsible for working environment and safety issues
  • Participate in economic monitoring and forecasting work
  • Collaborate with suppliers, customers, as well as other units and authorities.

What We Offer You

The Swedish Armed Forces have a strong value base built on openness, results, and responsibility. We want our employees to feel good, both at and outside work, which is why we care about our employees' future, health, and private lives and work actively to promote well-being and security. Our employees have several different benefits, including:

  • Competence development based on operational needs and your career goals.
  • Three hours of training per week during working hours, at our own fitness facilities or where we have agreements.
  • Good balance between work and leisure with flexible working hours and 28–35 days of vacation depending on your age.
  • Salary supplement during parental leave and VAB (care for sick children).
  • Option to exchange vacation days for extra pension contributions.

Qualifications

  • Current work experience in a work area relevant to the position or equivalent knowledge that the employer can assess as equivalent.
  • Experience from being a manager with personnel responsibility or another current leadership or project management role.
  • Good ability to communicate orally and in writing, both in Swedish and English.
  • Driver's license B (manual transmission).

Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who finds it easy to collaborate, communicate, and interact with others, as the work has many contact surfaces, both internally and externally. You are responsible and have a coaching leadership style. Furthermore, we seek someone with good analytical problem-solving skills, security awareness, and the ability to prioritize under time pressure. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. To thrive in the position, it is also required that you value good administrative work and have the ability to independently organize and structure your work.

Meritorious

  • Experience and knowledge of installation and maintenance of technical surveillance systems.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Familiarity with the Swedish Armed Forces' operations, organization, and garrison locations.

For the agency's mission to be successful, it is assumed that all employees behave according to the existing value base. The Swedish Armed Forces' value base protects the equal value of all people, justice, and equality and promotes democracy and human rights (read more at www.forsvarsmakten.se).
