Job Description

Do you want to identify and eliminate risks in advanced technical systems – before they even occur?

We are now continuing to establish Sigma Technology Engineering in Östergötland.

We are building a business area focused on qualified roles within technology, systems, and lifecycle management – and we are now looking for you who want to work as a specialist in functional and system safety in our customer projects.

This is an opportunity for you who want to combine technical understanding, analysis, and responsibility in complex environments – where you, in assignments together with our customers, contribute to developing safe and robust systems.

About the Role

In this role, you work to ensure that technical systems meet requirements for safe function, risk reduction, and reliability throughout the entire development and lifecycle.

You are a key part of the work to identify risks, analyze behaviors, and ensure that systems function safely – both in normal operation and during deviations.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting analyses within functional and system safety (e.g., FHA, FMEA, FTA)
  • Identifying and evaluating risks associated with technical systems
  • Developing and following up on safety requirements in development projects
  • Working with safety processes according to relevant standards
  • Supporting development teams with questions related to safe design and function
  • Participating in verification and validation of safety solutions
  • Structuring and documenting safety work throughout the system's lifecycle

You work closely with other disciplines such as system, software, and hardware development as well as testing and verification.

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for you who have experience in system safety or related areas within technology development.

You have an analytical mindset and understand how technical systems behave – even in complex and critical situations.

We expect you to have:

  • A university degree in engineering in a relevant field, e.g., systems engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar.
  • Alternatively, acquired equivalent competence through work experience.
  • Previous experience working in functional or system safety.
  • Knowledge of analyses such as FMEA, FTA, FHA, or similar.
  • Experience from technology-intensive industries (e.g., defense, automotive, industry, or energy).
  • Ability to work systematically with requirements, risk, and analysis.
  • Very good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

We work closely with our customers, and a B-driver's license is a prerequisite. Since we often work within the defense industry or other critical societal functions, the positions are usually security classified and may entail requirements for certain citizenship.

Personal Skills, Attributes, Experience

To thrive in this role, we believe you are someone who enjoys analyzing, understanding, and preventing risks.

We believe you are:

  • Analytical and meticulous – you see risks and details that others miss.
  • Structured – you create order in complex systems and requirement profiles.
  • Responsible – you understand the importance of safety and quality.
  • Communicative – you can explain complex safety issues clearly.
  • Collaborative – you thrive in cross-functional teams.

Merits

  • Experience working according to standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or equivalent.
  • Experience from the defense industry or other safety-critical operations.
  • Background in systems engineering or requirements management.
  • Experience in verification and validation.
  • Master's or Master of Engineering degree.

We consider it a merit if you have completed national service or other relevant experience from the Swedish Armed Forces. Equivalent experience in security, preparedness, or similar areas is also seen as a plus.

We Offer

You will become part of Sigma Technology Engineering, where we combine technical competence with a strong team spirit. As a consultant with us, you will belong to an engaged team that values community, knowledge sharing, and having fun together.

We put you, the consultant, at the center. Your well-being, your development, and your career goals are our priority.

We believe in long-term relationships and want you to thrive and grow with us for a long time. As a consultant with us, you will always have engaged leaders and colleagues, a secure employment, a flexible workplace, and the opportunity for a good work-life balance.

We look forward to receiving your application!
