We are currently recruiting a Hospital Geneticist or Assistant Hospital Geneticist to the Department of Clinical Pathology and Genetics.

Clinical Genetics in Örebro started operations in 2022 and has since built a strong foundation with significant development of the laboratory activities and the establishment of outpatient services. We have great opportunities to design efficient workflows from scratch and to develop genetic diagnostics in close collaboration with other clinics in the region.

Responsibilities

You will work closely in a multidisciplinary team consisting of specialists, specialty trainee doctors, genetic counselors, hospital geneticists, assistant hospital geneticists, BMA (Biomedical Laboratory Scientists), molecular biologists, and bioinformaticians. As a hospital geneticist, you will independently handle diagnostic genetic analyses for both hereditary and acquired diseases, and participate in the laboratory's operations. Currently, we primarily use massive parallel sequencing techniques (exome sequencing and targeted panels) as well as MLPA. Additional molecular methods and new technologies within molecular genetic diagnostics may be introduced in the future.

Our department is research-intensive, and operational development is a natural part of the work. There is an opportunity to conduct self-funded research or actively participate in other people's research projects alongside clinical work. Here, you will work in a positive team where we tackle challenges and changes together.

Qualifications

You are a qualified Hospital Geneticist with practical experience in clinical molecular diagnostics and experience in interpreting genetic analyses. Alternatively, you have a PhD background as a molecular biologist or biomedical laboratory scientist with significant experience in genetic diagnostics.

Experience with MPS/NGS, bioinformatic analyses, as well as validation and quality work in genetic analyses is meritorious. You must have good knowledge of Swedish (level C1), or alternatively Norwegian or Danish. We place great emphasis on your ability to provide good customer service and your sense of responsibility.

Application

The application should include a CV and a cover letter. Certificates, grades, and diplomas should be provided at a potential interview.

If you are or have previously been employed by Region Örebro län, we will take internal references from your current or former manager, should you become a candidate for employment.

A police certificate may be required according to current legislation.

As an employee of Region Örebro län, you are covered by secure collective agreements. Read more about terms and benefits.
