Do you want a meaningful job with good working hours where your days are filled with play, music, laughter, and little adventures? Then keep reading.
We are now looking for a personal assistant for a happy, playful, and active little boy in Luleå. He is just like any other small child: curious, strong-willed, playful, and full of energy, curiosity, and a desire to move. The difference is that he has a tracheostomy, a small tube in his neck, because his windpipe is weakened. This means he needs adults around him who keep an eye on him and follow clear routines – but above all, he needs someone who wants to be part of his daily life, play, joke, read, listen to music, and discover the world together with him.
You do not need prior care experience. You will receive a thorough introduction, learn everything you need to know on the job, and always work together with a colleague. The most important thing is that you are child-loving, secure, responsible, and eager to learn.
The work is scheduled during daytime, Monday–Friday, approximately 07:00–17:00. All hours are paid working hours, which means you can, for example, work full-time for four days and then have extended time off.
Information about the position
Professionals Nord is recruiting a personal assistant on behalf of Novum Assistans. This is a direct recruitment, meaning the recruitment process takes place through Professionals Nord, and you will be employed directly by Novum Assistans.
The position is primarily offered on a full-time basis, 100%, but there is also an opportunity for 75% if it suits the right candidate better. The work is scheduled during daytime on weekdays, approximately 07:00–17:00, according to a schedule with fixed days. In full-time, you work four days per week, which equals 40 hours, and at 75%, you work three days per week, which equals 30 hours.
The work is performed with double staffing, meaning you always work together with a colleague, and the employment begins with a thorough introduction.
Responsibilities
As a day assistant, you are an active and present part of a little person's daily life. The days follow a typical toddler's life with play, meals, rest, routines, and little adventures – where you are close by and present in the moment.
You help with everything that belongs to daily life. This may involve getting him ready for the day, dressing him, changing diapers, brushing hair, preparing breakfast, lunch, and snacks, sitting with him during meals, and being a secure support when emotions swing quickly. You are also close by during rest, as he sleeps about 1.5 hours per day and needs an adult to keep watch.
A large part of the work involves being part of his world. You read books, listen to music, sing, build towers, play on the floor, joke around, explore the home, and go outside on the plot when the weather permits. Some moments are calm and routine-based, others are more active and filled with play and movement. The important thing is that you like children, are attuned to his needs, and want to be present in both the small and big moments.
At the same time, there is an important part related to his breathing. The boy was born with a weakened windpipe and therefore breathes through a small tube in his neck, a so-called tracheostomy. In practice, this means that you, together with your colleague, are responsible for supervision related to this during the day. You monitor the tracheostomy, help with inhalations if needed, and ensure the tube is kept clean using a convenient steam machine and a small medical “vacuum”.
You do not need prior experience with tracheostomy. You will receive a thorough introduction and always work together with a colleague. However, you need to be a person who can combine playfulness, warmth, and love for children with responsibility, precision, and the ability to follow routines.
The workplace is the family's home in Luleå, where the boy lives with his parents and the family dog. The home is a large and newly renovated villa with good conditions for a pleasant, secure, and well-functioning work environment. Nearby, there are two bus stops with good connections, where buses 1, 2, 9, and 12, among others, service the area.
We are looking for you who
The absolute most important thing is that you are genuinely child-loving and feel natural with small children. We are looking for you who spontaneously turn to the child in the room, who think it is natural to talk to children, carry them, comfort them, joke, play on the floor, and be part of what is happening. You do not need prior care experience, but you need to be secure, responsible, and willing to learn. The boy is stable and doing well, but his tracheostomy requires attention and adults around him who are present. Therefore, we are looking for you who can combine love for children and playfulness with responsibility, maturity, and precision.
You may have worked in preschool, been a nanny or au pair, looked after younger siblings or relatives, or gained experience with small children in other ways. But the most important thing is not exactly where the experience comes from – but that it is evident that you like children and that it comes naturally to you to be close, play, talk, and create security.
For the right person, this is a job with much joy, closeness, and responsibility – where you get to become a secure and significant part of a little person's daily life.
