We are looking for a person who puts the visitor at the center, using knowledge and creativity to help shape a service that is accessible and relevant to everyone, with a special focus on children and young people.

The library in Västervik is entering an exciting phase. With the support of a new library plan, we aim to continue developing towards a new way of being a library. The library operates a library bus and has activities throughout the municipality, which we want to continue developing together with you.

Your responsibilities

You will be part of the "Children, Youth, and Family" team, contributing to the development of services for children and young people. Your tasks will include media management, creative activities, storytimes, and other reading-promoting activities. Some of this work will take place in "Labbet" – Västervik Library's makerspace.

You will also work on finding new forms of collaboration with, for example, youth clubs and preschools.

To thrive in this role, you should enjoy building relationships with children and young people, have a pedagogical approach, and possess the ability to inspire children and young people to read based on their conditions and needs.

The position also includes general library duties and staffing at the library's units, including evening and weekend shifts.

Your qualifications

You have an academic degree in Library and Information Science or other education that the employer considers equivalent. For this position, you also need a valid B-driver's license and must be an active driver.

Previous work experience in public libraries and experience working with children and young people are meritorious.

You work well both individually and in a group and are not afraid to make new contacts. It is important that you have a welcoming attitude and a desire and interest in helping citizens of all ages discover the library and what it has to offer. You understand the value of providing good service and are attentive and accommodating in interactions with both colleagues and citizens. You take initiative, bring ideas, and contribute to the development of the service. You have a good ability to plan, organize, and prioritize your work and understand the importance of communicating clearly.
