The Swedish Armed Forces are in an expansion phase and on a significant growth journey. The Armed Forces' cyber defense is an integrated part of the military defense and constitutes a military-strategic resource. The cyber defense has the ability to conduct offensive and defensive cyber operations, as well as to detect, identify, and counter threats from the most qualified actors. The effects of a cyber attack can have consequences for vital societal functions as severe as a conventional armed attack. The 2nd Cyber Defense Regiment is looking for you who has and wants to continue leading and developing the cyber defense capability within the framework of a corresponding SOC.

Our regiment must be prepared to meet an adversary at the state actor level. Our operations require high precision and expert competence. This means they place high demands on effective leadership to make the right decisions at the right time, but also to have prepared specialists for what lies ahead.

As Deputy Section Commander, you are primarily responsible for the technical follow-up and development, as well as replacing the Section Commander when they are absent. As an employee with us, you need to be prepared to defend Sweden and our allies both within and outside Sweden's borders. You need to be solution-oriented and able to shift focus when necessary. Examples of main tasks

  • Lead the section's operational capability in peace, crisis, and war with a focus on technology
  • Lead the section's capability development within cyber with a focus on technology
  • Coordinate and monitor the section's projects
  • Replace the Section Commander in their absence

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in functional leadership regarding cyber-technical or IT-technical projects/operations/activities
  • Swedish citizenship
  • Category B driver's license

Merits

  • Specialist officer within cyber, communications, electronic warfare, or systems engineer
  • University education in data or where the employer finds equivalent competence
  • Completed military basic training

Within the Swedish Armed Forces' cyber defense, you are offered continuous competence development so that you can further develop in your role and get the prerequisites needed to succeed in your mission. The work also includes continuous basic military capability, as our personnel hold combatant status. Those who lack military basic training will undergo the Swedish Armed Forces' general training (AMU) in order to obtain a basic understanding of military operations and personal skills. We can offer a varied daily life with an extremely important purpose to ultimately defend our democracy and freedom. This daily life is shared with highly competent and pleasant colleagues who have strong drive and initiative. Being at the highest level also requires good health. As an employer, we support good health by allocating 3 hours of physical training per week and access to certain healthcare. You should not tell other people than those closest to you that you have applied for the position at the 2nd Cyber Defense Regiment. The reason we ask you to be restrained with the information is that there are positions at the regiment that are subject to secrecy. Employment with the Swedish Armed Forces requires Swedish citizenship. Employment entails national and international work obligation. The position has combatant status, which means you must be able to handle and use weapons. You will receive this training with us. A security clearance with register control will be conducted before employment. The selection process will be supplemented with work psychological tests. Employment type: Permanent employment, 6 months of probationary employment applies to you who are currently not employed within the Swedish Armed Forces.

Information about the recruiting regiment:
The Chief of Defence and the Director General are located in the Headquarters. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. From 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defense Staff, the Operations Command, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Headquarters Staff Department and independent units for supervision.

Employment with us implies placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. A security clearance with register control will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be war-placed. The employment also includes an obligation to serve abroad. The meaning of this varies depending on the type of position. A CV and cover letter must be attached to the application for employment.
