The Workplace

The position is located within the Community Development sector, which covers operations in construction and environment, facility maintenance, rescue services, emergency preparedness, and operations.

You will work independently alongside a colleague, with your base at the municipality's operations center. This center also houses the municipality's broadband node station. The operations center is staffed by personnel from property management, streets/parks, and broadband services, ensuring close collaboration between different functions.

In this role, you will report directly to the Head of Community Development, who is your immediate supervisor.

The Role and Responsibilities

As a broadband/fiber technician with us, you will work practically and technically with the municipality's fiber network. The role is varied and involves both independent work and collaboration with colleagues, contractors, and property owners.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Installation and commissioning of fiber connections
• Installation and commissioning of active equipment
• Fiber splicing, blowing, and feeding (OTDR, attenuation measurement, etc.)
• Documentation and reporting of completed work
• Troubleshooting and maintenance of existing networks
• Fiber blowing
• Cable laying
• On-site customer contact
• Administrative tasks related to the work

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience with fiber installation, including fiber blowing and splicing
• Hold a valid B-driver's license
• Has normal color vision (the work requires the ability to distinguish color coding in fiber installations)
• Has good ability to communicate clearly and pedagogically in Swedish, both verbally and in writing

The following qualifications are meritorious:

• Relevant education from a University College of Applied Sciences or equivalent
• Experience with GIS systems and CAD for documentation
• Certification in Robust Fiber
• Availability to report with short notice when needed, as work may occur at inconvenient times, including night shifts. For this reason, we prefer that you reside in or near Nordmaling Municipality

To thrive in the role of a fiber technician, you are self-motivated and take responsibility for the entire work process – from installation to troubleshooting and documentation. You work in a structured and meticulous manner, ensuring high quality in every step, as the work requires precision and adherence to standards.

You are flexible and can handle varying workdays, sometimes with quick changes. Since you often meet customers and collaborate with others, you are service-oriented and communicative in your interactions. Furthermore, you have strong problem-solving skills and can independently analyze and resolve technical challenges in the field.
