About the Role

Do you want to help develop our Operations & Maintenance department at VB Elnät?

Within VB Elnät, we are currently about 30 employees who together accelerate our digital transformation and test and implement new technology that contributes to increased delivery security and quality for our customers. We are in a growth phase to meet our customers' needs and contribute to the energy transition, and we are now looking for an Operations & Maintenance Manager.

Your Responsibilities

As Operations & Maintenance Manager you will have the opportunity to lead the work regarding the operation and maintenance of our local and regional grid serving nearly 27,000 electricity customers, where we are responsible for operation & control, personnel safety, and delivery security.

The Operations & Maintenance team is responsible for the control center, maintenance work, electrical safety, metering, opto/communication, and grid planning. We are a client organization, and the group consists of 11 employees, all white-collar workers with a good mix of experienced and new staff.

Both the unit and the Operations & Maintenance Manager role are technically demanding, involving, for example, the formulation of technical guidelines and technology selection, as well as the planning and control of our resources. Our network consists of both local and regional grids spanning between 0.4-130kV. In addition to the role of Operations & Maintenance Manager the position includes responsibility for electrical installations as well as construction & property.

You report to the CEO of Västerbergslagens Elnät and sit on the management team. We are divided into three departments, the other departments being Project & Documentation and Customer & Market.

Opportunities & Challenges Related to the Role

- Increased reinvestment budget from a historical level of approx. 60 MSEK to 100+ MSEK. We are proud of today's interruption levels but see challenges with all planned interruptions in the future. Non-interruption as the first choice is something we focus on, and we work towards expanded AMS (Advanced Metering System) work and, for example, the use of mobile power generators.

- New types of customer contracts, e.g., conditional contracts with limited power extraction when the grid is under the most strain, require changed working methods and forecasts in the control center where the industry is still seeking good solutions.

- The organization and several employees are relatively new, and we are still shaping and developing the belonging of tasks and processes within the company.

- We have a great deal of will and energy among both staff and the company, so help us drive daily operations and development in the right direction according to the business plan we have to meet the needs of our customers and employees.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has experience working in a leadership position in the electricity grid and/or maintenance industry. It is an advantage if you have experience with both operational and strategic tasks.

There are relatively technical discussions and questions daily, so you should have good knowledge of an electricity grid and its components and devices.

A large part of the operations involves collaboration with others, so you are good at collaborating and thrive in a leadership role. We value that you plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. In the role, changed circumstances may arise, which places demands on your flexibility and adaptability. As you collaborate with many different actors in the role, you need to be able to express yourself well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.

As a leader, you create trust and engagement, encourage feedback, and share our principles of being active, positive, open, and always putting safety first. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability, with good leadership qualities prioritized.
