About Barilla Barilla is a family-owned company founded in 1877 as a small pasta and bakery shop and is today one of the most successful food manufacturing companies in the world. The Barilla Group owns 30 production facilities, exports to more than 100 countries worldwide, and currently employs approximately 9,000 people. The headquarters are located in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and in Sweden, we have the Wasa factory in Filipstad and a marketing office in Stockholm. We have a core philosophy that runs through the entire operation - Good for you, good for the planet - and we work every day according to our values: trust, courage, passion, curiosity, and integrity to produce food that we would want to give to our own children. Wasa was founded in Sweden in 1919 and is part of the Barilla Group. We are the world's largest producer of crispbread and have two production facilities, one in Filipstad and one in Celle, Germany. The high quality and variety of our well-known crispbread products are consumed by customers in more than 40 countries.

Technical Director

The factory in Filipstad produces crispbread under the Wasa brand. Over the past three years, extensive structural changes have been made in both Filipstad and Celle, with major investments in expansion and the installation of new production lines and facilities. We are now looking for a Technical Director who, together with the technical team, will continue to develop the factory.

About the role

As Technical Director, you are an important part of the factory's management team, reporting to the Plant Manager. You lead a competent team of four direct reports on the technical department who work with maintenance, facilities, projects, and investments. The entire department comprises approximately 30 people, as well as external suppliers.

The role is broad and includes, among other things:

  • Lead and develop the team to achieve the factory's goals together.
  • Be responsible for the budget and cost frameworks for existing technology and facilities.
  • Prepare basis documents, plans, and calculations for investments in the factory and facilities.
  • Stay up-to-date with technological developments to ensure the factory remains competitive now and in the future.
  • Provide technical advice and support to production.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure that targets are met without exceeding the allocated budget.
  • Together with the team and colleagues in production, ensure that maintenance work in the factory is well-planned and executed according to plan.
  • Procure and coordinate the purchase of external expertise.
  • Ensure and optimize the factory's technical equipment for energy supply.

In addition to the above, you prioritize and lead the work so that staff and colleagues feel good at their workplace, providing them with the conditions to succeed in their roles.

Who are you

To succeed in this role, you are a team player who thrives when you make everyone feel involved and secure in what is expected of them. Your background is likely that you have worked in manufacturing operations where you have had roles with responsibility. You do not need top technical expertise in all areas, but breadth, relevant education, and a strong interest in technology are important. Experience in costing, budgeting, project management, and personnel responsibility is considered necessary.

You are good at maintaining structure in operations. You enjoy working in the present while simultaneously working on developing technical solutions, working methods, and the organization.

Your leadership skills are of utmost importance; we see you as one of the team who enjoys working with others in an international context, while driving development and being clear about direction and expectations.

What you get at Barilla

We offer an important, varied, and exciting role in a stable and growing international company with fantastic products under well-known brands. You are given great opportunities for continued personal development within Barilla, both locally and globally. At the Filipstad factory, the local meets the global, always together, always as a team!

Of course, you will also get a lot of pleasant and competent colleagues waiting to welcome their new colleague.
