The Swedish Armed Forces are looking for an Alarm Technician with IT skills for the FMTIS Kvarn section.
About the Unit
FMTIS (Swedish Armed Forces Telecommunications and Information Systems Unit) Implementation Unit South operates to ensure the Swedish Armed Forces' ability to communicate and command, 24/7, year-round. The unit consists of approximately 180 employees distributed across 7 departments on 6 locations within the Southern Military Region (MR S).
About the Section
FMTIS Kvarn section is part of the Implementation Department in Linköping and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of technical surveillance systems at MSS Kvarn. The technical area of Technical Surveillance is a collective term for the Swedish Armed Forces' alarm, access control, and video surveillance systems. We tailor technical solutions to the end-user's needs and the specific security requirements mandated by the agency. Since the Swedish Armed Forces' operational area is very broad, this provides a great variety of tasks and complexity. Main responsibilities for the position include:
As an Alarm Technician with IT skills within the Technical Surveillance area, you will be part of a group of both IT and security technicians working with the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of systems for which Technical Surveillance is responsible.
Examples of tasks:
- Commissioning, conversion, and maintenance of IT infrastructure.
- Maintenance, service, and installation of alarm, camera, and access control systems.
- Troubleshooting.
- Collaboration with local operations, suppliers, other stakeholders, and production management.
- Follow-up and documentation.

Qualifications:
- Work experience in alarm and security work, or education deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Experience in installing and maintaining network components.
- Good verbal and written skills in Swedish and English.
- Category B driver's license (manual transmission).
- Good physical condition.
- Work may occasionally need to be performed in masts and towers; climbing training for working at heights will be conducted during the probationary period. A medical examination with a passing result is required and will be conducted before employment.
Merits:
- Technical education in IT, Electrical Engineering, or Security Work.
- Completed conscription/GMU or experience from the Swedish Armed Forces, e.g., Home Guard.
- Knowledge of server environments or network administration.
- Good proficiency in working in a Microsoft Windows environment (Excel, Word, Visio).
Other:
Start date and salary according to agreement.
The position is titled Telecommunications Engineer and is civilian.
Location: Kvarn
Travel occurs within the unit's geographical area, as well as in other parts of the country.
The position is permanent and begins with a 6-month probationary period for those not currently employed by the Swedish Armed Forces.
