About the role and responsibilities

As the Head of Streets and Parks at Mjölby Municipality, you have overall responsibility for operations, personnel, and budget within the Streets and Parks Department. The department consists of approximately 50 employees and is organized into two operational units: workshop/warehouse/infrastructure and streets-parks. Each unit is led by an Operations Manager who reports to you.

In addition to the Operations Managers, you have personnel responsibility for a group of civil servants, including street engineers, traffic engineers, city horticulturists, landscape architects, landscape engineers, and infrastructure project managers.

In this role, you are responsible for leading, coordinating, and further developing operations towards set goals. You ensure compliance with legal requirements, regulations, and municipal guidelines, and drive improvement and development work together with your superiors.

You act as a manager of managers and lead the management group of the Streets and Parks Department. You are also part of the Management Group for the Urban Planning Administration and report to the Administration Manager.

Your responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and follow up on operations within streets and parks
• Have overall responsibility for personnel, working environment, and budget
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and municipal steering documents
• Drive improvement and change work to increase quality and efficiency
• Lead and support Operations Managers and other key personnel in the organization
• Participate in and contribute to the administration's strategic work
• Collaborate internally and externally in a politically governed organization

Your background, experience, and competence

We believe you have a relevant academic degree, for example in urban planning, road and water technology, or equivalent.

• Extensive experience of both strategic and operational work within streets and parks operations
• At least three years of experience in a management role with responsibility for personnel, budget, and operations
• Good knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and steering documents
• Experience in contract law and public procurement
• Experience working in a politically governed organization
• Good understanding of industry development, especially regarding digitalization and climate and environmental issues
• Valid driver's license (Category B)

Furthermore, you have a good ability to build and develop relationships and create and maintain networks, both internally and externally. You communicate clearly and trustworthily and have an analytical ability that allows you to see the big picture and make well-founded decisions.

What we offer

A consultancy assignment via Jurek Talents with a planned start in August and running until June 2027 on a full-time basis (100%). Some possibility of remote work.
