Description

The Environmental and Health Protection Office develops society and has a broad mandate covering, among other things, strategic planning, permits, and supervision.

The Environmental and Health Protection Administration is a local supervisory authority for activities covered by the Environmental Code, the Food Act, and several other laws. Around 50 employees work at the Environmental and Health Protection Administration, divided into four units: environmental protection, health protection, food, and administration. There are good opportunities for development within the office and other administrations. We work in teams and support each other during temporary peaks in workload.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an Environmental and Health Protection Inspector who will handle cases within environmental protection. An Environmental and Health Protection Inspector conducts on-site inspections at businesses and private residences, processes cases, makes decisions, collaborates within the municipality, and answers questions from the municipality's citizens, among other duties.

Most of your working time will be devoted to supervision regarding waste-related issues. Your other tasks may fall within the entire area of responsibility of the environmental protection unit.

Your Qualifications

A requirement is to hold a university or college degree in environmental protection or another education that we assess as equivalent.

Being able to express yourself well in both speech and writing in Swedish is also a requirement.

You have good knowledge of the Environmental Code and its ordinances.

In your role as a public authority official, you must have the ability to make objective and factual assessments, set clear requirements, and make decisions. The role also demands a pronounced sense of integrity. You should have good social competence and strong communication skills that contribute to creating mutual trust, clarity, and respect in interactions with business operators, colleagues, and citizens. It is important that you enjoy working both independently and in a team. You are service-oriented, engaged, and flexible, with good planning and prioritization skills. The work requires a structured approach and good judgment.

A B-category driver's license is required.

Meritorious Qualifications

You have experience from supervising environmentally hazardous activities, or alternatively, experience from other activities that we assess as equivalent.

For this position, it is also meritorious to have previously worked with supervision of waste facilities, incineration plants, wind power supervision, and stormwater facilities.
