About the workplace
Do you want a varied and enjoyable job at a workplace where we focus on development and continuous improvements? Here, you will contribute to both environmental and societal benefits. You will play a key role in protecting our environment and the people and animals living in it. We welcome your application!
At the Environmental and Building Administration, a dedicated team of nine inspectors, two administrators, and one manager currently works together. We handle a wide range of issues within environmental protection, health protection, food safety, and building regulations. We have a trust-based working approach and good opportunities for remote work. We also offer flexible working hours according to the current agreement.
Our municipal building in Skillingaryd is currently undergoing renovation, and during this time, our entire unit is located together in central premises in Vaggeryd, close to the train and bus stations.
Vaggeryd Municipality is growing; today we have nearly 15,000 residents. We offer great opportunities for those wishing to move to our municipality. Whether you want to live in a detached house, an apartment, in the countryside, or perhaps build a new home, there are attractive options for a high quality of life.
Job Responsibilities
We are looking for someone interested in working with environmental protection and who thrives particularly well in work related to environmentally hazardous operations and small sewage systems. Your duties will include supervision in these areas as well as responsibility for the ongoing sewage inventory. You will have significant influence over your own responsibilities and can structure your work to suit your style and methods.
You will also participate in various networks within your areas of responsibility. Therefore, your ability to take responsibility and prioritize among varied tasks is crucial in the role of inspector.
In your work as an environmental inspector, you will plan and conduct supervision visits, verify that operations comply with the requirements of the Environmental Code, identify deficiencies, and follow up on imposed measures. You will independently handle qualified tasks such as investigations, planning, and follow-up within your areas. You will draft service reports and decision materials and make independent decisions within the given delegation.
You are also responsible for advancing the ongoing sewage inventory and handling cases related to small sewage systems, such as permit applications, dispensations, and orders.
You will always have support from your colleagues and manager. You also have good opportunities for professional development through continuous competence development and participation in networks and projects. Here, the opportunity to influence and develop the operations as well as your own work is great. In the small municipality, decision-making paths are short, and collaboration and flexibility are key pillars.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a suitable university/college education in environmental protection or equivalent education, or other work experience considered relevant. To be considered for the role, you must have a valid B-class driver's license. We use the case management system Castor, and experience with it is viewed positively. Since communication with both citizens and businesses is a large part of the job, we require good communicative skills in Swedish and English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of other languages is also viewed positively.
To fit the role of inspector with a focus on environmental protection and small sewage systems, we believe you are interested in these areas and already possess some knowledge and experience in this field. We also believe it is important that you enjoy problem-solving.
You will work closely with colleagues, and we would like you to thrive in taking a driving role in the group and the work. As a person, we believe you are proactive and see how operations and our work can be improved. You work well independently but also enjoy collaborating with others. In this role, we work for the citizens, and we place great emphasis on customer service and a willingness to help. Occasionally, the role requires making decisions, so we prefer that you are comfortable making your own decisions and following your judgment.
Personal suitability is of great importance.
Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis; interviews may begin before the application deadline, so please submit your application as soon as possible.
