The Sami Parliament is a popularly elected Sami parliament and a state authority since 1993. The Sami Parliament's task is to promote and develop a living Sami culture, contribute to societal planning, and ensure that Sami needs are taken into account.

The Language Centre works to strengthen the Sami languages and their speakers, to increase the use of the Sami languages, and to develop methods for language revitalization. Our primary target group is children and young people. We collaborate with other institutions and organizations in our work.
Responsibilities
In the role of Head of Unit, you lead the Language Centre's staff in language-strengthening projects and method development. You work both strategically and operationally. You have responsibility for results, economy, and operations at the Sami Language Centre, as well as occupational health and safety responsibility for the Language Centre's staff. Other duties include reporting activities to the board and committees, working with procurement and agreements such as cooperation agreements, commission agreements, and the use of copyrighted material. Additional duties may arise. Travel is part of the position.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a university or college education in areas relevant to the Sami Language Centre, e.g., in project management or linguistics, or equivalent competence acquired through work experience.
You should have experience in project-based work. You have good communication skills in both speech and writing, and the ability to compile facts and write reports within the field of activity.
You should be proficient in at least one of the Sami languages in both speech and writing, and have a good knowledge of Sami society and the Sami languages through, for example, education or work experience.
It is an advantage if you can speak and write several Sami languages. Experience in personnel leadership and experience working in public operations or politically governed organizations is also advantageous.
